I feel for the poor child who got so scared that he had an accident. Unfortunately, this happens to a lot of children when they get scared out of their wits.

Yes, I tried to be compassionate in the telling, placing no blame on the poor unfortunate child.

Shock does have that effect o some people. It did on me once a very long time ago but I had just entered my teens and I remember feeling very ashamed.

Show me anyone over 21 who has not suffered the embarrassment of some unfortunate accident, and I will show you an above average individual.

Aww, that was sad, sweet and such a beautiful story. And yes, it is possible, and it does happen. My nephew had many 'accidents' in bed when his parents were going through a particularly awful divorce. I was cross that they couldn't keep their hatred of each other without their young son having to witness it all. You have written this in such a gentle way, my friend. Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

You have written a true to life tale and I imagine that many children are afraid of thunder. Your words create a clear image of what is taking place and one feels bad for the little boy.

It is fiction but with young children entirely possible. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. You hit all the necessary requirements, characters, plot, and solution, and used only a few words. Good luck with the contest.

Unexpected surprises are part of being a parent, whether it's daytime falls, scrapes and cuts, or nighttime accidents. At least Jack was old enough to get himself to the bathroom to shower and change his own clothes. I must admit, your author's note made me realize things were worse than I originally thought. Best wishes in the contest.

Ah poor little mite. I am not surprised that it happened after he had such a fright. You told a complete story in just 100 words and chose good artwork to accompany it. I wish you lots of luck in the competition. Best wishes. J.

This one-hundred-word flash fiction story, Stay Back, tells this personal bodily malfunction tale of thunderclaps and PJ craps. I'm sure the name was changed to protect the author. : )

What a great way to start off my day. A hearty laugh and a lasting smile that I can share with everyone I come in contact with throughout this freaky Friday. LOL. Thanks for sharing.
