So glad that you met Mr. Perfect! It means you both know how to appreciate each other's differences. I know you've written about your mathematical husband before. Best wishes in the contest!

Hi Rachelle, you just completely described my marriage. And although I have written about it many times in my poetry, but one in particular in a piece called "Opposites Attract", yours was so wonderfully delightful and so much more fun to read.
I don't know what was my favorite part as I loved all of them, but I did love, "Our attraction, off the charts." Wow, amazing. Y'know Glen and I will be married fifty years next year. And I couldn't tell you where it went and what happened. Not a half century's worth.. Yet I love him more than than on our wedding night. Your piece explains so much why in your positively lovely poetic language. Thank you and it is so good to see you. I have been thinking about you lately. I had one of the eye surgeries so can read this better thru one eye and the next to come on Wed.
So good to halfway see you more clearly. (Smiles) Take care dear friend. I completely adored your post.

Wow! That's a LOT of years together!! Congratulations to you. And glad to read that you're half-and-soon-fully able to see. Thanks for your nice review.

Your final line says it all for me. I watched both of my daughters turn down men who loved them above all else. Nothing to scorn at for sure. Most people marry opposites to sort of fill in weaknesses. I told my daughters to look for someone just like themselves. Of course they married opposites.
Lots to think about here. Your pair does sound like a match.

We're the same on lots of things, too, though: our loyalty factor, our honesty and integrity, our love of trashy tv shows...It works for us.
Isn't it so hard to be the parent of an adult child? To think I used to consider potty training as difficult as life could possibly get!!

It is heart breaking to be the parent of adult children. Life is so hard and I just want it to be easy for them.

Clever! I like the style you used in this with the contrasts in each stanza. You show how the contrasts between you and Mr. Perfect work. Your poem illustrates the old saying, "Opposites attract." I can see how these differences become advantages. It certainly helps if one is chatty and the other is quiet, for instance. In your last stanza, I wonder if "Why'd I love him most of all?" would be better. Or go with Why do I love him most of all? 'Cause that's how he loves me. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Cute. Inventive wording. I wish you well in the challenge as well as finding such a guy, if looking. Good luck. Haven't read you in a while. Have you been well?

I've already found him. I've used his last name for two-and-a-half decades now.
I've been fine.

Holy Shit!! I was so excited to see your name pop up in my messages. This was a poem that shows the old adage "opposites attract" is spot on. I can only assume this is about your beloved husband. Well written. Gretchen

Absolutely!!
I also just won the 5-7-5 contest about Writer's Block.

You go, girl. So dabged glad to see you back. Gretchen
-
BTW, I finished your book. Amazing is an understatement. I'm going to let one of my friends read it. She's a teacher with special needs kids. You are such a gifted writer. I'm so stoked you're back!
-
Gretchen, you are such a sweetie. Thank you for this. xoxo

Very nice.
But from what little I understand, the lady of your poem is not you - or she's you with a little exaggeration. (smiley face here)
I know you said you were going to be busy and such and would take a bit of a break, but I'm glad you're back.
Good luck in the contest.

Hey, Cutie! Yes, it's me. (Where's the exaggeration?!!)
xoxoxo
-
LOL!
The exaggerations: shallow, stickler, non-math'matical
I read your book, remember!
-
Hahaha. But I AM shallow!! Remember all my leopard outfits, my hats, my high heels! Only shallow girls have the volume of those I do!
And stickler? How about my "Edict" chapter! [Would you believe this year, I did not let a SENIOR do the Recital --this is a kid I've had for THIRTEEN YEARS, Wayne!!-- because he was so atrocious at his song. He was nowhere NEAR Recital Ready. I really am a stickler.
And okay, I'm math'matical if we use as the qualifier my ability to count to four...because, really, that's the extent of my math skills!!!
But thank you for thinking highly of me. You are a kind and generous friend for sure. xo
