You described well the sorts of changes we confront when we move house. There are always a strange collection, some good some bad. I smiled at the thought of the unneccessary packing you went through, even though the moving company's logic was impeccable. Thanks for sharing. kay

Thank you Kay, I appreciate the review and ;your comments. I wished I had known the moving company would do that. It would have saved some owrk. I had some broken ceramic pieces I planned to glue back and I packed everything together. The moving company packed each broken chip separate.

interesting place. "Couldn't go hardly anywhere in any direction without finding water." That was a good way of putting in the readers minds eye. I could imagine the people there and the street. I felt bad for your curious boy. God made us curious. Blessings!

What fabulous memories! I know I've read about your move to New Orleans before but with each retelling you share a different part and make it fresh! I'm sure that New Orleans was such a big change from your childhood home.
Some minor punctuation suggestions:
various odd things, I sometimes found (no comma because you would separate the object from the verb)
but since I wasn't working the kids (comma after 'working' or else you were working the kids)

Thank you Helen, I know you are busy with you move and I so appreciate you taking time to read my post and point out things that need attention. I'm also really thrilled that you use member pumps to push up my posts.

It sounds like this new town is providing much amusement although moving house is a trial and I have done it a few times in my life and I even moved from one country to another which was not easy. I was entertained here Beth, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly. If I moved to another country, I would really want it to be a temporary move. I could give up the state where I was born, but not so easily the country. I wouldn't mind living in anouther country for a while.

Living in another country where you don?t speak the language is very difficult Beth, I have had to battle through it and I found many good friends along the way x x x

I found this both interesting and informative, a glimpse into a part of American culture. Well written.
Wendy
Typo: I think you mean " a palette knife" (not "palate").

Thank you Wendy. I'm glad you found a glimpse into my life interesting. Yes, I did mean palette knife. I souldn't expect Word to correct my misspellings. It won't as long as what you write is an actual word.

Hi Beth,
This is a well written chapter in your family chronicle. You tell of what your family faced as they first got an apartment in New Orleans. The story was charming and helped paint a picture of your experiences. I love the part about the Governor. How fun!
Take care,
Rhonda

TJhank you Rhonda, I appreciate the nice review and comments. The governor was a typical politician with a lot of baggage but he was especially loved by the Cajun poputlation who considered him one of there own. He could communicate in the Cajun French. He was an interesting character.

Oh wow, I'll bet he was loved! My sister spent a lot of years in Abbeville, where is where she met her ex husband, and father of her children. She married very young, so sort of grew up there.

Beth, This is a very interesting and well written chapter (or story) you have penned about this move. I used to enjoy getting autographs from certain people. I will try to go back and read the other story. love and blessings, Teri
