Thank you for sharing this special poem dedicated to the Grandpa's of the world. My grandpas were very special to me. They were as different as night and day, but each special in their own way. You've done a great service here.

Barb, you were very blessed to have 2 grandpas. I had one who was a minister so he was pretty strict but kind. Up until last year all my grandbabes had 2 sets of good Grandparents and one grandpa died of co-vid. Broke my heart for them _ so now we make sure Glen gives a lot of extra love!
Thanks for the kind comments my sweet friend!

One of my grandpa's was an old-fashioned hell and damnation southern Baptist minister, but he was still a loving grandpa.

We have more in common than what we even thought

Awe, Debi. How can you not get a six. A tribute to us grandfathers (that should encompass all languages) was so nice of you to write for us.
My grandfathers were in Italy. I never knew my dad's father but met my moms two times.
Next week my four from Florida will be here (can't wait).
Thank you Debi for this fun poem and my acknowledgement. I appreciate you thinking of me.
Have a happy day...
John

Hey dear John, Happy Poppa's Day! Yes, I not only acknowledged you but that one stanza was referring to you. I knew you don't see them much but forgot how long it had been so I used a year and gave you a tear. Hope you don't mind. My favorite men always allow themselves to shed a few. Lol..
I am excited for you and hope you and your lovely wife enjoy them. I never take mine for granted either, because every time I see them, they grow so much and I only have two left that still are of age to play and have fun. What happens when they all grow up but grandma doesn't. Lol
Thanks for the six dear friend and for being one of my favorite grandpa's (Poppa's). As always I appreciate all your kind comments.

I knew it was going to be a fun poem and full of your usual creativity. I was right.
I don't remember meeting either grandfather. They died weeks apart in 1950. I was three years old.
I was told I did meet my mother's father. He was killed in an oil field accident in West Texas. He was 55.
My father only had a murky memory of his father who died in a home for the indigent in Houston at age 75. He served a couple of terms in prison for being a thief. I found no record he ever married my grandmother. She was 20 years younger. Maybe she thought good riddance. Terry.

Do you ever watch the Marty Stuart Show? There's a comedian/singer on there that sings a song called "I'm my own Grandpa." It is pretty clever and funny. I have a feeling you might get a kick out of it since I think your sense of humor is a lot like mine. I will send it to you.
Thanks for the kind words but once again my final edits maybe just missed you. I do wait to post until I think it is right. But what do I know at three in the morning when my Apple Pencil keeps erasing half of my screen while I am falling asleep. Dang, I need to work on my procrastination more. And I am never not busy, so go figure!! Lol... thanks tho for the kind comments.

I have watched the Marty Stuart Show, I used to get on RFD, but I don't get it anymore, I know Glen likes it. I liked the story about Marty and Connie Smith. terry.

Yeah, wasn't he like a fourteen year old boy in love with her and got to meet her and swore he would marry her some day? Weird how they got together years later after he met her then. I am not the biggest fan of hers but I do kinda like him. I think the shows have to be old or else he has had that mullet thru one fad and kept it until now when it is back in style. Two of my grandsons have one now. Lol.

A lovely poem. Adept handling of cute rhyme and rhythm, as usual, to match the sweet subject matter. Really enjoyable and pleasing to read. Thank you.

Beautiful. I was at a Juneteenth celebration where part of the festivities was a Father's day raffle. As I was receiving my prize of $50.00, I was asked if I was a father. I replied that I was a father, a grand father, and a great grand father. The crowd fell silent. One or two others shouted out, "Me too!" Everyone laughed and gave us a cheer. Your poem is great, you are demonstrating a unique talent for writing this type of poem. I pray that you will keep at it, as it is very enjoyable.

I have had to keep coming back to do changes as I put it together so soon after my eye surgery and it it hard to look at. I used you in my poem, but wish I had a more specific event to put down for you. Like what it is you do with the kids. If you can tell me I will change your part. Thanks Sweetie and I wish you the best Poppy's Day yet!

The grandkids are all grown up, but I try to give them the benefit of all my years of experience with life. The great grand kids come to me for treats, stories, hugs, lots and lots of playful teasing, and just boatloads of love.

I don't remember much of my grandfather. Ga-ga, as he was labeled. He dies when I was seven. My other grandfather passed before I was born. It's funny because I always put a grandparent in my books. Maybe that way I'm getting the grandparent fix I never had. Anyhow, this was a wonderful poem celebrating grandfather's everywhere. Gretchen

I am so sorry that you didn't know a grandfather but I put your Ga-ga in my poem and maybe that will help him live in your heart even a little more. There is a little girl in all of us. I didn't know my paternal one as he died when my dad was young. However I had a grandpa preacher and it wasn't the fun grandpa type of today. My grandma was sweet but she never did the things that I do to make my grands happy.
Thanks for the sweet comments my dear friend. I changed a bunch of stuff in my poem as I always do after I post at least for a few hours. I need it to say I can't do anymore to make it better. So just thanks again my dear dear friend.

Aw, this is precious. Jackson is blessed to see himself featured in Grandpa's Around the World. He'll be out on the dock fishing today, no doubt and watching the U. S. Open. Jay and I are making dinner for him: crab cakes and southern potato salad. It should be grand for our granddad. Thank you so much for this precious thing. I'm sure all the Pappas, Pas, Pappys, Poppas, Poppys, Gramps, Bapas, Gumbas, Grumpas, Grandpas and Granddads are blessed. ;)) I tried!
My paternal grandfather was called Fath. He supported my mother and we lived with him for many years after our parent's divorce. He saved us from destitution.
Sending you my best today as always, and Happy Father's Day to Glen, and your son-in-laws.
Love, hugs, and blessings acroos the miles,
BBB xoxo's!

Thanks Darlin for the lovely review and kind words. I have to be honest with you, but Jack and Glen kinda shared the spotlight for the fishing verse. We too live on a lake and Glen has been a big part of the fishing for our grand-babes, summer in the boat and winter in the fish house. Fishing and hunting are so big here for of the kids. However I wanted only Jack'spet name on it so l hope he doesn't mind sharing just a bit.
Thanks my sweet friend for the awesome review.comments and six stars.

Hi Debbie,
This is a fun poem about what grandfathers do and are called by those here on fanstory and around the world. Another to add to your list in Yiddish (vernacular Hebrew) it is Zadie for grandfather and Bubby for grandmother.
Keep writing and stay healthly
Have a great day
Joan

A lovely, fun and light-hearted dedication to Grandpas everywhere. Think you've covered all bases here, Debi, in this flowing and well-rhymed verse. Particularly resonated: "Time in veggie garden..." Thanks for sharing, Debbie

I just love this, Elaine and I gave a talk at church on legacy, as grandparents, on generational blessings, and when we look today at our grandchildren, and how that Abrahamic blessings are genuine, what a privilege to carry the gospel message through our offspring and their offspring, beautifully written Dear Debi, blessings Roy
