John, LOL. I know you listed it as fiction, but it does have a ring of truth. If not you, then surely some other young fella could have easily filled this role. Good job, fun story. Terry.

What a series of ... hmm... poor choices! Lol. You were certainly quite a character. Probably still are, deep inside. Your escapades make for a funny story in retrospect. Well written.

Yep. I'll bet she never fails to remind you of it too.
Kids can do such dumb things because their brains are not fully developed yet, especially the part that deals with judgment. Then they continue to compound a problem by making further mistakes. Sounds like you got the punishment you deserved, and you're a good boy now, right?
This was very funny, John. Jim

Lies will always find their way in the open, and this story reminds me when I was ten, in Trenton. Every year after the the New Year begins, folks through Christmas trees to the curb and boys would gather them to make a fort. Donald and I did and connected it to a neighbor's unattached garage. He suggested we make a fire to keep warm. Mom kept matches above the kitchen wood-fired stove. Donald, being short couldn't reach them. I could. One thing led to another and the trees caught fire scorching the side of the garage, not badly, but what if. Anyhow Dad asked if I started the fire. "No, Donald did." Dad and my friends father got into it and Dad lit into him like a whirlwind, and was 100 lbs heavier. That was true but after three days my conscience got to me and I confessed. I said I took the matches, and tho had nothing to ignate the flame, broke his heart. He never believed me after that. My biggest mistake in life.

That sounds like a story to be written and told here on FS.
Thank you, Tom,

You did a great job showing how one fib escalated into
a major issue, John. Yes, the truth would've been the best.
Your story flowed smoothly with great action and details.
Even though it's listed as fiction, this was very believable.
Your words created great imagery. I could see all as I read.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Yeah, I think he should have listened to sis. But too late, the damage was done. Dear oh dear.
Now, John, I really liked this story. I suppose it could fit many a teenage boy. But then again, I've never been a boy.
Just found one thing:
There was no one else was around: delete the second was. Ulla:)))

Wow, you were on a roll, making one bad decision after another. But it is a well written story, which draws the reader into your misadventures immediately. There are a couple typos that got overlooked, you may want to correct. Good story.

Sorry, I missed its listing as fiction. Doesn't change my opinion that it is a good story.
