You have written such a moving remembrance of your brother-in-law and painted a clear picture of a rare saint. The descriptions are clear and touching and tell an inspiring story of rare devotion and commitment. I very much enjoyed all the comparisons... wind, books, bridge, etc. Very thoughtful piece and so descriptive. MM

I wish I had a hundred stars to give you for this poem. It touched me, and made me cry. You described my awesome late husband in this piece. I swear, it was like you writing it directly to me about him. I lost him in 2019, and although I didn't die physically, I know a good part of my soul died with him. Thank you for sharing!

Monica, my sincere condolences. It pleases me that this piece evoked such emotions for you as you reflect on the love and losses you have close to, your heart.

A beautiful and thoughtful tribute to one who truly knew the meaning of love, love which endured and was sacrificial. He honoured his vows, and was a wonderful example and role model. Best wishes for this lovely poem in the contest.

Wendy, thank you. Those married souls should also be so endearing to each other as we age.

Owen was an angel on Earth. I spent 35 years caring, as an RN, for Alzheimer's patients...it is a grueling, emotionally sapping experience for loving family members... Fewer and fewer families elect to care for these patients at home. "Memory Care" facilities are cropping up everywhere...and God Bless those who are trapped in their body as their mind allows every grain of memory to sift away and blow on the wind.
This is a beautiful testament to love. What a fine free-verse poem!

Karenina, thank you for your selfless dedication as a nurse. I have much respect for each of you who often times experienced the worst of humanities frailties and yet never waivered providing the best of care possible.

My grandmom suffered from Alzheimer's until she died at age 98. I knew then, after caring for her, that I would dedicate my nursing career to Alzheimer's patients.

what an amazing story told...I'm so
sorry I am out of sixes...******...
Owen and Billie had the forever love that
goes with a true unconditional marriage...
something very rare in todays time...
they were both blessed to have spent 65 years
together...but they are now resting in peace
in heaven...I am so sorry for your loss...
they were much like my father and mother...my mother
was in the late stages of dementia...my father died
first...a couple years later my mother died...
they were married 64 years...
your story touched my heart...and your poem is very well written...picture...perfect...Love Linda xxoo

Linda, my heartfelt condolences for the loss of both parents. It is a God sent blessing if we have soulmates who are so committed and capable of being able to support their mate through to the end.

A fine tribute to this dedicated man who loved his wife and sacrificed his life to help and care for her. He himself lived a long life too. I enjoyed your fine spice poem story, love Dolly x
