I understand the feeling of seeing your work while posting and having to nitpick everything in it, trying to make it perfect, yet never being satisfied. I for one thought this post was beautiful! Your grandchildren are very lucky. ~Heather

I'm looking forward to reading your new book. It's important to record our family history and their values. I'm glad your son is giving your this wonderful gift to get you started.
Well done.

How sweet and loving to create such a powerful keepsake that can be read in years to come. Recording these memories are important for keeping the family connected. Family history must be told. Enjoyed reading this.

They might find your letter a bit more interesting if you tell them what happened whenever you moved and their grandpa went off to war in chronological order with dates. More story like. You did have an exciting life with all your traveling.

I am at a word limit. I would have to add an additional letter. I think I will do that. Thank you for the support.

I think you are doing a great service to the children. It gives them a good opportunity to learn history and what her own family did to preserve freedom. The best in your writing.

Hello, Barbara,
I love your book project, when it's all done your granddaughter will love it. I have a book/workbook my daughter gave me to write about my life, but I got frustrated because I can't remember big parts of my life.
My ex-husband was in the airforce for 20 years. I met him when he retired but he told me stories.
As far as I can tell, it doesn't need edits but you can add more. Good luck. You inspired me to get back to my book.

Yes, that's a good idea.

I know I could add a lot more. I think I'll add a separate one that goes into more details, after I've completed this one. Thank you for the support.

After a warring situation it is refreshing and uplifting to plant new seed as it helps us forget the horror of war, a fine post Barbara, there is much sensitive in these words, love Dolly x x x

Keep these letters, hand write them with as much detail as you like. Is it possible to just talk about their granddad. Not that you necessarily have to leave out their uncle and great uncle. Maybe if you were less formal with the letter. It's a good letter. Gretchen

You did a great job, Barbara. I was interested, and I'm not
even family. While the content f your letters may not seem
something the girls would want to read, as they age, I believe
they will enjoy learning more about family. As each letter is
added, it will be their personal journey into people, place, and
experiences they have only heard about or maybe weren't not
even around then. You did a great job keeping it simple and
brief. However, you spoke to them with some valuable advice to
remember as they grow.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

This is a fine piece. I found it to be interesting and informative. I think it will help your granddaughters to understand a small bit about what our military people deal with.
