This was a very interesting piece of flash fiction! It was a great vision of what could be. I especially like the end where the life crawled ashore. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Wow, what a bleak look at what's probably to come. An interesting vision from an undoubtedly interesting person who thinks deeply. A teacher turned commercial fisherman, which I'm sure is a great story in itself.
Thanks for sharing.

This is the type of story that for a brief moment has one think of the possibility as the world's nuclear power holders grows.

Well written and creative and clever.
Good luck in the contest.

A rather creepy story because it leads us to imagine the very possibility. You draw the reader in immediately and in your eighty words create vivid imagery and emotion (or lack of) and it works. Great flash fiction.

Thanks, Ginda. There will be a nuclear explosion. It will probably be just one, by a terrorist group.

This is such a scary but well written piece. Very thought provoking butIt is a bit too close to home for my liking.
I wish you lots of luck in the flash fiction competition. Best wishes. Jen.

Too close to our potential reality to be funny. (sadly) Though most theorists contend that there will be pockets of survivors in areas that might escape the worst radiation.
Best wishes.

Thanks for the review, Wayne. I'll bet the super rich will be in those pockets.

I am impressed by this work. It is succinct and to the point, your art work is bright and arresting. There are many different ways to get the message but you have managed to do it in a straightforward manner pinpoint the image. Giddy

Hello Paul.
this is an interesting take on what the future could possibly hold. I suppose anything is possible, given the state of the world right now. If the fish were subjected to radiation in some form, what would be the end result? Would they grow to monstrous proportions or develop extra fins or eyes. Food for thought. Thanks for sharing.
Have a blessed evening.

An interesting end of human life on planet Earth. I am more inclined to believe the end will come from a super volcano, but the result is the same: humans climbing out of the primordial soup of amino acids to start again.

Very well done, Paul. Wishing you great luck with the Contest Committee. :)

Very imaginative story Paul - but don't think the end will come in this way, although it will be unexpected. The story was developed well, and left the reader wondering at the end how it would go, second time around. No different probably!
Best wishes for the contest.
Wendy

Thanks, Wendy. You guys in Australia will probably go last. Did you read "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute?
reply by Wendy G on 24-May-2023
Yes, many years ago. Also ?A town like Alice? by him.

I read a number of his books, like you, years ago.
