Steven Bradbury won because of his determination and perseverance as well as the strategy of a lifetime! He waited behind like the turtle and the hare story where the turtle waited behind going slow and steady and eventually won the race!
I love this story and it reminds me of my own neck injury and how I still am determined to walk!
Thanks for this inspirational piece!

Absolutely, Jesse. He was wise, courageous and very determined, as well as some-one who learned from his experiences. I am glad this was an inspirational story for you, and I pray you will achieve your own dreams similarly. Thank you for the honour of six stars. Much appreciated!

You are welcome, Wendy. Thank you for the prayer of confidence. I hope to achieve a successful surgery on my right knee in September of this year with the hope of walking again.

You're darned right he deserved that medal. He used brains over brawn and his dogged determination got him across that finish line. This was a very inspiring story. I enjoyed reading about your Australian hero. He sounds like a man who makes his fellow Australians very proud. Great story. Thank you for sharing. Gretchen

Yes, we are proud of him. There's so much more to his story than one would think, and he definitely worked hard to merit the gold. Thanks so much for a super review.

Who would have ever known outside of Australia? Thanks for sharing, INTERESTING, and of course, well written. Was he related to Ray of Fahrenheit 51? Of course not, the Bradbury was American. Bye

I remember this, clear as day, and loved how the country applauded him. I had no idea of the hardships that led up to it. I think he did his own Bradbury.

Thank you Geoff. Yes, there was so much more to his story, and I am so glad his dream came true. It was many years of hard work and overcoming obstacles, not just a few seconds of "luck". I think all of us Aussies are very proud of him.

What a remarkable young man, full of determination and perseverance. He deserved that win. When the others pushed and shoved each other down, it gave him the opening he needed. I can't see why anyone would question that. The most wonderful thing is he can inspire other to follow their dream.

Thank you Yvonne. Some people at the time said he didn't deserve to win - he was just lucky. I disagree. He definitely earned his gold medal. He had actually been training and preparing all his life for that moment, overcoming huge odds. Lovely review.

What a marvellous story of dedication to a dream and continuing against the odds. This made me proud to be an Aussie and show our fighting spirit, but also grateful that some Australian history is able to be told in such an engaging manner by a gifted writer - YOU!!

Wow, thanks so much Jenny. That's a lovely compliment. I was happy to share his story - there was so much more to it than simply winning a gold medal because the others fell down. Love your review.

Well done. Bravo! To you, AND to Steven Bradbury.
And I believe that you have it right. It doesn't matter if the award was for the single race, or a 'lifetime achievement' award. He deserved it. And his strategy wasn't just a crap shoot, "Let's see if I can get lucky." It was based on history and science. Well done, Mr. Bradbury. You are the champion!
Best wishes to you and I hope your lost phone and records issue is now all resolved.

Thank you so much Wayne. Your review is very encouraging! I am very glad you enjoyed his story.
I have a new phone and the sim should be activated tomorrow. And new replacement other cards are on their way, and I 'll hopefully have them all within another week. So it's all gradually getting there.
Thanks so much for remembering.

Great contemporary history lesson on heroes!!! I agree with you that strategy is modt important in professional sports. Just as a soccer team pressured by the opponents marking an own-goal can't dispute it
I enjoyed the writing and I am pleased I discovered the great person that is Stephen Bradbury!!!
