Excellent poem entry for the "Poem on the Range contest"
The free verse forced flows well. Strong imagery and good word choices. I like how you use all the senses.
the structure makes sense, it draws on emotions and it presents strong images.

I love this post about that wide open range that sits in a broad land and envelopes the mind to create a wonderful image of something profound in nature, but yet deserves a narrative thst captures the human imagination, well done, good job, blessings Roy

A pleasure
Comment from Terry Broxson
I will be upfront this is a very nice poem for a very creative contest.
Having said that, I have to be a little silly. Do the mountains really lean west? I thought mountains reached. But if they do lean west, then means they are left-leaning mountains. Let's don't let the Republicans find out about that. They will want to bulldoze them.
The poem has wonderful imagery of the Western parts of our country. I have traveled it often, and you captured it beautifully. Good luck in the contest. Terry.

Love this, the imagery and senses you employ to illustrate the western forest range is really smart. I can feel the dampness, the musk and the rush of snow-melted waters. Awesome post!

Excellent job at pulling the reader in so that they can experience the range with you. Lots of fun word choices and interesting metaphors. Good luck in the contest.

You succeed in conveying a sense of space and freedom. The sound of running water and the greenness of the world at this time of year in conveyed. The free verse suggests this sense of space.

What a great poem composed here for the wilderness/western challenge.
Each stanza brought imagery and sensory perception to life with your well chosen words.
Best of luck in the contest.

I almost felt like this was through the eyes of an animal. The sights and smells so intense. But then there was the mention of the beauty of the lay. I don't think animals think in terms of beauty. It's safety or not. This was beautiful and full of the five senses. Imagery was lush. Well done. Thank you for posting. Gretchen

Your created a rich ambient scene with words that brought all these aromas to my senses, the scenes to my eyes and my ears to the sounds of this outdoor wilderness, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

This is well done. My favorite line is where you describe your gastric juices rushing to your mouth as you eat a lily that has just begun to bloom. This is well written and if this is your first poem I wish you well in your journey into our site, Fan story.
Thank you for sharing and I hope you win the contest!
