Yes, the past, especially if it has to do with guilt, or broken relationships, does come back to mind in the night hours, and impedes sleep, and also causes fear and distress. I like the presentation, as welll as the rhyme. Best wishes for your entry.

This is a very good ten word poem. I am sure that we all have lain awake at night poring over past indiscretions. Many times after we drop off to sleep, we dream about them.

Hey Sweet Regina, thanks so much for your kind words for this poem. Yes it is a little Eerie, and it seemed quite perfect as my granddaughter is the artist behind it and when I saw the snake one coming from the Upstairs bedrooms, my mind went to something my mom always said, that past sins would always come back to haunt us in the dark of the night. I like your word gothic.

One of the hardest things I have ever had to do was to accept blame or responsibility for some of the more grave or gross acts I have participated in as a young man. There are a few things that I would be hard pressed to have to publicly admit to. Thank God my parents will never have to hear of them.
