This poem points out that lack of decency and morality in society will have destructive results. There is a general malaise in the West which is seen in society generally and in politics particularly. This is worrying. As the writer says here you don't have to be a prude to object!

The biggest problem as I see it, is when there are no rules, no restrictions. When you see web pages dedicated to humans having sex with animals, politicians and clergymen having sex with minor children. This is a clear sign that the worldly society that we know is on its last legs.

Yes, I agree with you.

I had a dog named Bacchus. He was a shephard mix. Didn`t drink anything other than water Ha. Your points ring loud and true. As I read the poem I was reminded of the recent released film, Babylon. It was rather disgusting and at 67 I have seen a few things. I had to walk out of the theater. The movie had no purpose. We hear you!

Babylon is an excellent example of what happens when there are no restrictions, no limits, no barriers. We as a species must do better.

yes. keep reminding us of our purpose

I don't know what this world is coming to, Nolan. Man's behavior, for the most part, is unexcusable. Many people don't see the error of their ways until they are on their deathbed.

So true. By then it is way too late. Thank you for your review.

An intriguing poem. The flow is good. The images are clear. The arguments fit the conclusion. This almost fits as a rant. The presentation is good.
Unfortunately it is part of having freedom. A person needs to be conscious of problems and snares and avoid them.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the warning. Yes, these kinds of events like Bacchanalia was something common in ancient times so I guess we should not be surprised that it still happens today. We can just pray for the Lord's protection over our kids and grandchildren.

Thank you. I do not know what caused me to write this. I wrote it some time ago and decided to post it now.

You must have been reading some Greek classical work! 😊

You tackled a touchy subject, Nomi. However,
you handled it well. The world is getting crazier
and crazier everyday. There seems to be no way to
stop the immoral behavior of some. It reminds me of
Rome before its fall. Your words were descriptive in a sad,
but true way.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you so much.

This poem, Bacchanal, starts off with the hedonistic pursuit of pleasure and escape and ends up throwing a wet blanket on it. People need a few small, bad decisions to inform the more important ones.

Wow! I have never seen anything like this happening in my town! It sounds like a riotous night for the neighbours. Is this happening on the streets? Goodness, you'd be arrested if that happened here. This kind of behaviour never ends well, love Dolly x

This was actually written years ago and just recently updated. I honestly do not know if this happening anywhere. Just chalk it up to the demented imaginings of an old man.
