A sad story. We don't know why the boy didn't make it to his Ferris Wheel ride, but the loss of such a young life is tragic. He was looking forward to life and couldn't wait until he was big enough to ride the roller coaster. Very poignant picture of the mother as she is now without her son. She is there to keep her memory of him. Best of luck in the contest. Great story in such a few words. judi

You told a good story in a very short space. The details were great. I liked "cotton-candy stickiness" and "Ashes sifted through her tear-covered fingers." It's a nice echo there.
