Bravo. I can think of no better writing for this month, at this moment, at this inflection point in our country. I encourage everyone to read MLK's full letter. It is wise, it is compassionate, but it is unflinching in his determination.
One particular passage never fails to inspire me:
"We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial "outside agitator" idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds."
I believe, with all my heart, that no one was smiling more brightly from heaven on the day President Obama was elected, than Martin Luther King, Jr.
I consider myself blessed to have the opportunity to read your post.
I have this, one of his many inspirational quotes on my wall beside my desk:
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Let us pray!

Your review is brave, bold, full of compassionate understanding. Your comments do me honor I struggle to feel worthy of. Nevertheless, I am honored to receive such lofty praise. I cannot thank you enough. Yet I will try. I thank you a thousand times a thousand.

It is an honor, sir.

Your story is an excellent tribute to a great man. I found the story a bit opinionated at the end, but hey, we all have the right to our opinions. Your story is skillfully executed.

I stand by what I said. The two administrations are starkly different. One is scandal free, and the other scandal ridden. So, you are free to choose and decide for yourself. I thank you for your review comments nevertheless.

I don't think Biden is so scandal-free since his son's problems and the stink over the classified documents.
-
While little has been proven so far, I only referenced Presidents #44 & 45. Biden is #46

An enjoyable and informative read. I like your interpretation and appreciate all the thought that has gone into this prose.
Not being from the US it seems all I ever hear in Australia is either about mass shootings or politics in the US.
Keep up the great writing. Jacqueline

I was not aware of the letter you wrote about in your post. Dr King and Jesus were two of the most influential purveyors of peace among men.
You provided a great post for Black History Month
John.

I appreciate the boldness and analytical insight demonstrated in this piece. You have adequately drawn a comparison between criticism of the actions of Jesus and criticism of the actions of Dr. Martin Luther King. Few people have ever affected humanity as these two men. What I liked most about this post is the way you clearly and definitively stated the reasons for your views of THE FACTS. The dream is still being fulfilled...Ketanji Brown Jackson.

This is an excellent post and its timely honor during Black History month. I didn't know a lot about Dr. King at the time but over time I realized the was a person for great courage. Since he believed in peaceful protest, I don't know why people had a problem with that. I think people who weren't affected by the cause simply listened to what was being said about him rather than listening to what he was saying.

That is almost always the problem with misunderstandings. You must try to listen in order to gain understanding.

This is perfectly written and comparing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, to Jesus speaking to Peter was perfectly executed. Thank you for sharing this with us. I had not heard about this letter written from prison.

Yes it is deeply and profoundly stated in regard to why the call to wait does not work. Thank you for your comments.

Wow! Extremely well written and executed! Have you considered being an investigative reporter if you're not already? You have the gift there is no doubt. I can and do appreciate the pioneers of the world of which doctor king was one. He is what we would call in spiritual terms a "mission life entity".
Change comes hard sometimes and it's people like yourself Who point these things out as we must never forget the sacrifices of some for the greater good. Thank you for your submission! I look forward to more!

Thank you for a very inspirational review. Please forgive me, but my head is starting to swell just a bit. I am not accustomed to getting that sort of compliment. I thank you very much.

The truth must be spoken! Enjoy your day!

You did a great job, Nomi, with this presentation. I enjoyed
reading it and learning from it. I wasn't familiar with the letter
Dr. King wrote from jail. That period of history was a sad time
for the USA. I really liked the way you compared what DR. King
wrote with the Bible verses. That made a great impression on
me. We can all learn from history if we have an open mind and
pertinent facts.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you for an encouraging review. I was not sure of what kind of reception I would receive. I am pleased that the first one was not a hostile criticism.

I never have a six by Wednesday but this is six worthy and I am thankful for the bravery of Dr. King and the movement he led. I'm glad for President Obama and hope that there will be more justice for our Black citizens who are often targeted by police.
One suggestion:
