This is a wonderful poem about family, great rhyming and easy to read. I especially like the lines: "It wasn't like we had a choice; it must have been God's plan." Yes, God has a plan for each one of us and puts us where we belong.

Nicely done.
Should there be an "s" on "God plan"?
I liked the flow and the rhythm.
The last part about bringing honor to their name is lost in this world somehow. People don't realize that they are leaving a legacy of some kind.
Great job.

Thank you Rebecca. I appreciate the review and comments. I'm so glad you saw the missing "s" so I could correct it.

Your poem about family is spot on. No family is perfect as you write but Gods plan is what keeps them together.
Your cadence made for an enjoyable read and your rhymes were well executed.
Cheers to a good weekend.

very good advice in the last two lines of this poem about what family means to us. I grew up in a dysfunctional family and am barely on speaking terms with my estranged brothers. You inspired me to call them this weekend

Thank you for the review. There are no two family exactly alike, and even the best of them have some areas in which they are disfunctional, If possible, I think it is in everyone's best interest to try to hold the family unit together. I know too many families that are estranged and wish they weren't. If you're inspired to call your brothers, I am glad.

Always praise the entity of family. Some have had terribly difficult upbringings while others have been wonderous. The bottom line, a strong loving family is our cure for everything.
Check your last line in the 3rd stanza. It needs reviewing. Read it out loud and you`ll understand.

Family is place to be yourself and feel at home. I wish it could be that kind of place for everyone. Thanks for noticing the error in the stanza. I fixed it.

I love this well written and perfectly rhymed poem in praise of family. We are nurtured by our parents and find we belong to a family and good or bad their genes are in us as we make our way in life and the main thing is to keep the family united, I loved the sentiments and the love within these words, love Dolly x

I would like to see a specific example: He threw down his last hundred on the black back table. He busted at 23 and guy up to call his son. He hadn't talked to him in 34 years but he placed the collect call. The number was disconnected and he had no money.

Beautifully written poem that brings home the message that we are all different. Not everyone has a great family.
Great flow and good reasoning throughout. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Thank you for a great review. The family with which we share our DNA isn't always perfect but it still has an impact on our lives.

So true.

Yes, Siree, this is a great entry for the Family prompt. I liked several of the well-placed rhymes. My favorite stanza as it is a great piece of wisdom was:
Most people want to do their best,
and their bonds of love are strong.
Be careful not to place the blame
when the minor things go wrong.
Thank you for sharing this!
