Poor dumb toad...
A cute 25 word poem for the entry with the "ode" as the rhyme scheme and it told a story.
Best of luck in the contest.
Cheers to a great day.

A-h-h yes a tale is told here through a mere twenty-five words - it's a great title for the poem and rhyming adds an extra dimension to the creation

Haha. Yes! I can relate. In Australia came toads do implode. What a thoroughly enjoyable, relatable read. Great illustration to accompany your ditty and the green background fits perfectly.

Oh my goodness, this sounds rather messy and I wonder if the driver skidded? Your rhyming poem made me smile but how sad it is for the toad, love Dolly x

Yew. Toad roadkill.... (Reminds me of "Frogger" an ancient arcade game I used to enjoy! ) You sure conjured an image in 25 words!
Maybe we need toad crossings?

Hi Mystery Author,
Well, you did it! 25 words later, you've told the story of the last seconds of a toad's hopping life. All it knew was that it needed to cross that road. Why? What was over there that was so important? A girlfriend? A wife? or maybe just a pond with lots of yummy bugs! Splat!
Good rhymes, and a tragic loss. For all we know, that toad was the leader of the toads of Gabriel Gorge! And now they'll have to have an election. Speeches... signs... and other toads that can count the ballots!
Good Luck in the contest!
Cheers,
Kimbob

Well, your poem rhymed all three lines but told a very sad story from the toad's point of view. But since this is not a children's poem, perhaps it would be judged not by the outcome of the toad.

The author's are sad, descriptive and creative. The author's words made me think about how animals go through difficult times too. I am sure many times no one see this happen. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork goes well with the words of this poem.

What a smushy entry for the Twenty-Five Word Poetry Contest. You even nailed the color scheme down to perfection.
I hope the toad didn't croak when it got hit. (Yeah, I know . . . but I still did it anyways.)
Good stuff. May the writing muse smile good fortunes upon you in the contest!
