Thank you Kahpot. The frightening thing is that it could happen all too easily, as when people seem like "nice" people we assume the best. Fortunately only fiction. Thank you for a very encouraging review, and also for the good wishes.

Oh. NO NO NO NO NO! Wendy! I so did not see this coming! Well isn't that the perfect thing to say about Flash Fiction though? I gasped. Gasped! With all the murders we've been reading about of late this could oh so easily be true, and that makes it scarier, still!

Thank you Karenina - a wonderful review, and it seems I must have written it convincingly. Lol. Fortunately just fiction! But yet it could so easily happen, and with "nice" people we make assumptions that they are what they seem, and it is not always so.

There is definitely a lesson to be learned here about security of information. 'Leave me your contact details and I will pass them on when I next see these people.
The trouble is, we want to be helpful so we tend to give information when asked for it. A good warning article this one.

Thank you for your review. Yes, that would have been a better way to handle the situation, and we judge that "nice" people are sincere and good. Fortunately this was fiction, but it could so easily happen.
Violence is perpetrated by all sorts of normal looking people. Super review, very thoughtful. I appreciate it.

I noted that it was fiction but I still found it chilling.

This is a great piece for Flash Fiction. You have set things up beautifully for that last line. You should do well in the contest. That young man could have used a therapy dog.

Oh my goodness Wendy, I did not expect that ending and I was shocked! Unfortunately this kind of thing happens as women do not always escape domestic abuse, a fine flash fiction, love Dolly x

Thank you very much Dolly. Great review. Lucky it's only fiction, but could easily be real, unfortunately.

Oh that's such a scary thing! It could happen. My daughter's ex-boyfriend has violent tendencies and sometimes, the thought that he might look us up would worry me. You turned such a worry into a horror story! Yikes!
Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you Helen. Great review. One has to be so careful, even "nice young men" can turn out to be psyopaths or sociopaths. Praying your daughter will never see him again! Or that he has moved on.

Thank you, Wendy! He's in another state but his actions to my daughter did give him a police record. Then he filed papers to try to get her to remove that record. It was awful. Sigh.
-
What a terrible situation for her. That doesn't help one's self-esteem! Or confidence in going out, or meetng people!
-
So true. And that guy came from a Christian home. She dated since but someone much older and not interested in commitment. Appreciate your prayers. 💖

Oh my, please do not tell anyone where I live. They may meet Smith and Wesson instead, or a Mastiff seven foot tall. I'd hate to be an accomplice to someone's demise. Well done, my Aussie friend.

Yes, if would be awful. Even if unintentional. Thanks for reviewing. Guns are much rarer here in Australia, not many 'ordinary' people have them. Thank you for the great review.

Well done honeybun. So much of this is happening in real life! Yesterday a chap was having a coffee on the balcony, she came out and stabbed him, locked the door and set the place on fire. Go figure.

This is an excellent flash-fiction. It was predictable that the man wasn't going to be welcome at the new neighbours', but to that extent! Let that be a lesson to us all. NEVER give any information out about your neighbours. Imagine if they gave some out about jou! kay

Thank you very much Cindy. I like the challenges of a word limit. This one needed 150 words, I couldn't have written it with fewer. So glad you (sort of) enjoyed it! Blessings for you too.

I really enjoyed it, Wendy. I meant I have trouble writing really short stories.
Good luck!
