This is great story. You have accurated conveyed the feeling I think most of us have before surgery. Even though I'm been put to sleep as a child with no side effects, every time I went under after that all those fears returned. I ever had butterflies and anxiety when I was waiting in the waiting room for my husband or one of my children to undergo surgery.
I tried not to think about writing a will at that time, however. LOL

Hi Beth,
I?m glad you could relate to the story. I agree on the worry for other family members as well. It?s hard to remember that the medical professionals do this all the time and it?s just a regular day for them, lol. God bless them! I was never an easy patient.
Take care,
Rhonda

I am sorry you have to have surgery and those bulls are dangerous animals. I hope this is all a distant memory for you now and you are fully recovered. Surgery is a trial and I hate the anaesthesia, a fine write for the contest, love Dolly x

I can relate to surgical experiences, and I could relate to this entry. You did a great job pulling the reader into the scene and setting. This was a fast read and one without spelling errors.
Thanks for writing.
Best wishes.

-A nice surprise to see your writing, Rhonda.
-You still have the magic touch of storytelling.
-I'm not one for the gory details of what could go wrong, either.
-I haven't experienced anything like that, especially from an anesthesiologist.
-I can relate to your anxiety; hospitals are not a fun place to be, but they are good when you need them, as long as you have doctor you can trust.
-I like your attitude when you told the anesthesiologist that he needed to listen. Luckily, the nurse understood completely, and that was the best thing for you.
-Hope this is has been a good experience writing about it, and that you continue sharing on FS. I have missed your presence here.
-Take care and be well. Good luck in the contest. You deserve it, my friend!!!!

Hi Pam! I?m so glad you noticed the post and jumped in to review. I always appreciate your detailed and insightful comments!
Thank you, especially, for the middle of the week sixer. So heartwarming!
You were right about the anesthesiologist. With all the other doctors I?ve dealt with, they seemed to have understood I just wanted the overview and why that?s all I wanted. I?m not sure what that one guy?s problem was, but, like you said, the nurse came through!
I enjoyed the write on this prompt, and do hope to get more consistent on FS. I have good friends here and stand to meet new ones.
As always, thanks for your support,
Rhonda

Your account, to a person who has gone under a number of times, has the ring of authenticity, Rhonda. I liked the way you broke up each new pre-anesthesia paragraph with the time. Quite effective.
She smiled as I faded away. [Oh, I like this! ]
A superb entry in the contest. Good luck!

Hi Jay, good to hear from you!
I?m glad you were able to relate to the story, sorry it was from first hand, but it does tend to happen.

Another fine, yet frightening tale, Rhonda....I remember very well all the emotions that seem to attack you when you're about to have surgery, the worry you read about someone who never who never woke up or sepsis setting in afterwards, as happened to a woman I was friends with. She didn't make it, so you freak yourself out

Hi Mike! In one of my later surgeries, I got sepsis and it was no fun. I am so happy to have made it through, hardly unscathed, but survived.
I know you?ve had troubles enough of your own and can totally relate.
Take care, my friend,
Rhonda

I've never had any major surgery, Just a couple of skin cancer day procedures, but nothing really invasive Dear Rhonda, but yours sounds terrifying, but you've almost got "used to it". But you are brave dear friend, this is a great post, you give me much reason to be an avoider of procedure if possible. Thank you for your visits here, and reminding you're a good friend, and a great connection with my early origins here. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Roy, that is a very sweet six star review, my dear friend. Yes, we?ve had a long and rich history. Not only are you a brilliant and inspiring poet, but you?re a very humble man.
Thank you, thank you,

Surgery is never fun for anyone. I still recall having my tonsils out when I was three years old. In those days, they put an ether-filled cloth over one's nose and mouth to put them to sleep. It was terrifying. Your story is well-written and believable. Best of luck in the contest.

Hi, sweet friend! That would be very scary to have an ether cloth, brrrr. From future surgeries, I remember the mask put on me, but that first time, the last thing I remembered was being wheeled out of the room, and only barely that.
Thanks for the well wishes,
Rhonda

This is an outstanding entry for this contest. I think it will be very well received and good luck. Given your history, it is no wonder you didn't want or need all the notices. I hope that I am through with the medical system. Excellent work. Terry.
