In Paragraph One sounds like the horse had indeed given up on life and that he was very neglected.

"thought Willies's" should be thought Willie's.

Willie knew where he wanted to be, with the person who rescued him, and was willing to do so at any cost it seemed.

Very enchanting love story, I will call this read. I had a dog like that when I was younger. I do understand the connection totally. Than for sharing this remarkable story with us. Have a great day.

If this doesn't win the contest, it must be rigged! lol. Truly a wonderful story of connection between an animal and a person loved by that animal. It never ceases to amaze me how certain animals can become almost 'humanlike' in their devotion to a caretaker -- and, typically, the process goes two ways. I love your presentation of your story and I like 'who you are' a clearly illustrated in the story. thanks for sharing. ann

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. Willie was a character. I only had one other horse who became attached to me as Willie did. Horses do become fond of a good owner, but if given a choice, would rather be in the pasture with their horse buddies.

What a touching and sweet story. You're right, Willie sounds more like a house pet than a horse. He needed time to get to know Joyce before finally deciding to allow her to keep him:-)

This is an engaging and well-written story. Best wishes in the contest.

Pam

Thank you. I think you are right. Joyce was the only one who rode Willie, and she often came over and spent time brushing him. She had more time for the horse than I did.

I guess Willie knew where love was. From the story, you appeared to be a wonderful person, few persons are loyal and kind to animals, giving them a second chance on life. Your story validates the cruelty people are to animals, but are fortunate people like you are around.

Thank you. I think Willie fixated on me because I was probably the first person who was kind to him. Later, Joyce spent more time with the horse than I did. I think that is why he finally decided to stay with her.

So there is definitely a grain of truth then somewhere in that idea of 'horse sense' - true life stories about animals are so interesting - a delightful tale -thanks for sharing

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. Every animal has a different personality. Willie was starved for kindness and fixated on the first person who offered him some affection.

What a great horse story you've written, and good luck in the contest. I enjoyed reading Willie's story. I would have never been able to let him go after the first return. He got what he wanted. Have a great evening. Shirley

Thank you. I would have taken Willie back, but Joyce bought him and she wanted to keep him. She loved the horse and eventually won him over.

Thank you. It's a wonder my husband didn't divorce me. I always had a cat or two, dogs now and then, and horses quite often. All these animals were abused and needed help.

I loved that "Houdini in horsehide" comparison. He sounds like a lovely horse, and I hope the shared captivity worked for both of you. I am glad she got to keep him in the end. Best wishes for your entry in Regarding Horses contest.

Thank you. Willie was a Houdini in horsehide. He even kicked out the side of Joyce's barn to get back where he wanted to be. He was a character.

Thank you. I have always had a thing with animals. Even the dairy cows wanted to be my pets. I don't know why, except that I tired to think the way an animal would .
