My suggestions: 'January is the coldest, biting cold opens the year'. Valentine's Day comes, hearts bloom despite the cold.' 'Saint Patty's day brings nothing green/This season's getting old.' 'I think of going south, but lose a long debate.' 'When I come back I'd still be freezing for this spring's birthday date.'
I only offer changes like this to embody differences that I believe make a poem better; of course, the poet and the poem deserve acknowledgement for the open window she creates.

Thank you Frank! I love your suggestions and will be editing shortly to make some of them. I appreciate greatly the time you took to read, review and offer ways to make it. Your respectful feedback means a lot to me, my dear friend.
Hi Frank, I did not get a chance to make those changes right away like I had planned on doing as I was running late for an eye doctor appt. I have an eye disease that is making it so I am allowed only a little time on the computer, before everything is a blurr, so I only am able to barely get my writing and thank you's done, but leaves me no time for reviewing and that is why you never see me on your page.
After another surgery we are hoping that will change.
But I did make everyone of the changes that you recommended, except just a few words at the end of one line. And yours would have had me leave out the word wait, so I just changed that one slightly.
I love how the poem sounded after I did it your way, and I can't thank you enough for that. You are truly a great friend and I do appreciate you so very much. Most of the time. LOL

You were on a roll yesterday, so it seems. I'd invite you to visit us in NC, just a few miles North of SOUTH Carolina, but whoever you placed in charge of your weather must have left your gate open for we have been below freezing for over a week. Today's high thought will be mid-fifties.

Happy New year Tom! I really appreciate your very kind review and comments for my " waiting' poem.
'We're starting out badly here. Last wk temps minus thirty, close to minus seventy windchill temp and when the wind blew, we had a blizzard. Now tomorrow supposed to be the same. As much as those scenarios can happen, we have had a mild winter here and there.....in my lifetime. Lol!. Thanks again my dear friend!

AArgh. Stuck inside for the duration of the Arctic Front. Brr. Minus 70? I cannot imagine.
Comment from Ginda Simpson
You paint a picture of very long winters with which many of us are not familiar. But you also paint a picture of inner strength and hope, finding both in the waiting. A very nice poem with good rhyming

Beautiful poem. Great rhymes as well.
You could send some snow over here. It's something we hardly ever see.
And I hate summers in Madrid, they are too hot.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Beautiful poem, reflecting the excitement of anticipation for warmer, hot oh! so short days. I like the strong words which drive the point and the solid rhyming pattern.
Well done

Yep, and the 10,000 lakes and all their bugs lie a bit dormant providing a reprieve of sorts. Having been raised in the upper midwest, I fully sympathize with your tale. Nicely done and keep the wood fire crackling. At least romance has a chance even in winter.

"An Eight Month Wait" was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with No Grammar Issues.
...
Complete Synopsis:
The Adjective and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned most Perfectly.
Good luck with your contest entry and have a Blessed day.

I live in Minnesota, too and lived here for thirty-two years. For me, the bitter cold months are January and February yet I still go outside ski, walk and skate every day. It have to say that this Christmas was very cold. Even though I walked twice every day, I didn't enjoy it very much until Monday. We went cross-country skiing.
Well done and goo luck.

Thank you Jasmine for always being such a lovely reviewer and friend.
I love that this poem has helped me get to know my already good friends, even better because of them sharing where they are from. Where in MN do you live? I absolutely love finding out who is from here. And also that you stay active even in our cold weather. Like I wrote in my authors notes, that extreme cases like I wrote about only happen every so many years, but last year was one of them. Yes, and last week was horrible but only got 16 inches of snow with it, but boy did it blow. We had a temp of minus thirty and windchill at minus 70. But we live out in the open where it gets colder too.
I live near Buffalo. In fact last year I wrote a poem called, "Deadly Shooting at Allina Clinic." I go there and one of my friends was shot 5 times and survived. You must have heard about it? Anyway,, thank you again, my dear friend.
