Yes this incident brought the US into World War II and helped to defeat the enemy. It was tragic and uncalled for and Japan were ultimately the losers, a poignant write Earl, love Dolly x

Hi Earl,
This is a well done poetic retelling of the sights and feelings of Pearl Harbor. It was Japan's mistake to wake up our Sleeping Giant of patriotism. We will never forget as we will never forger 9/11.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Happy Holidays.

I too was a tar from 65-74. Ag was my billet, weather-guessing my way to E-5, and having a few years where I got to play All Navy basketball. Duty stations were the USS Wright, Andrews AFB, N.S, Guam, FWC Norfolk, and a detachment sailing from Coronado, CA.

A very good poem about one of the most unforgettable days in our history. What a difference eighty years make. Japan is now an ally, and we have other countries that are threats.

A fitting memorial and tribute to thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives that day! I like the reference to the Arizona leaking oil
as a reminder of that day. The poem is a testimony to our duty and indeed our privilege to remember.

Heartfelt and sincere shedding light onto the awful day at Pearl Harbour when so many lives were lost. I feel if the rhythm and rhyme was tightened and refined further you'd have a great poem. "Market" and "targets" would be more effective if you could rework the sentence to conclude with "target". A really special tribute. Thank you for sharing and keeping the memory alive.

This poem, Japan's Biggest Mistake, has the proper formatting and recalls the sense America had during this event and the lean years prior and heroic years afterwards.

I was young, 4 years old, but I still remember as I watched my older brother march off to way only returning in 1945 with a Silver Star for gallantry. How can anyone forget? Thanks for sharing.

As I started to read this I thought of the the sleeping giant quote and here you included the words. This proves how you words had impact in recounting the attack.
Good luck in the contest
Best wishes

I think that is one very sad day America won't ever forget. The Japanese caught us by surprise. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Thank you for sharing!
