And what a legend it is. More than just a sport, it is tightly wedded to cowboys in general, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Kit Carson, Buffalo Bill, etc. These are all legendary cowboys who could have easily been rodeo heroes. We will never forget them. Something you may not be aware of, a group of black cowboys are barnstorming across the country in an: "All Black Bill Pickett Rodeo" my family and I attended one here in Southern California. The crowd size was impressive. It does my heart a lot of good to see the rodeo tradition being kept alive among various communities. I would not mind or object to seeing an "All Hispanic Rodeo" There may well be one, I just have not heard of it. I will do some research and maybe do an article on the subject. Thanks for the inspiration.

There will always be cowboys, people risking everything just to take that ride. Rodeos are exciting, but sometimes we create the fantasy in our own minds, while playing it safe. Your poem is very relatable, even for us stay at home cowgirls.

Willie, this lavender-type print is too difficult to read it is too light and faint my eyesight is poor and I can't make out what you have written. The handwritten script font is also hard to decipher. I know some will fake it but I want to be able to read and review with open eyes.

I can't imagine anything more exciting than a rodeo, although I CAN imagine how my heart would be in my throat most of the time I watched -- what a marvelous poem! Thank you for sharing it!

Hi Willie,
This is a well done poetic description of a rodeo cowboy's life. It is a dangerous profession.
The third line in the fifth stanza seems to long for the poem. It breaks the rhythm. Also wheela should be wheels. I don't know why you added wheels to that line. It does seem to match the cowboy life.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great day.
Joan

I've been to a few rodeos in my life (as a spectator, of course) and can't imagine the strength the cowboys have...not just in their bodies, but their minds and their hearts. You wrote a very lovely poem depicting the sequences of being a cowboy with that kind of life and I enjoyed it very much. thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed this poem about the toughest sport in the world. A bold statement but from reading this I can see it would be up at the very top. I must admit that when watching a rodeo, I am amazed at the ability and toughness of the riders.
Thanks for sharing and take care.

I've never heard of this sport, but will have to check it out after reading your piece, it sounds like it can be quite dangerous as well. I thought your piece was really well written and flowed well. I enjoyed reading it.
