How lovely this is, my dad was at Dunkirk in France at the beginning of the war, he was one of the 300,000 British soldiers evacuated from the beaches, but they returned five years later. Thanks for this Mary, it was beautifully and movingly written, blessings Roy

I enjoyed reading this story, as it is written with emotion, love, and longing.
I can not begin to imagine what serving in this war was like, but this letter says a lot about your dad's state of mind.
Your writing is descriptive and well crafted. You successfully paint a vivid picture of the scene for the reader to view and become a part of.
