There were two very distinct parts to this chapter; in the first, you obviously had fun playing Bessie as the ghost moving those pens across paper and carrying decanters of whiskey across the room and throwing glasses into the fireplace to make the hair stand up on Gwendollyn and her butler. It was a fun scene very much in that Ghost and Mrs. Muir vein. In the second part it was much more serious and tense, with that conversation between Miles and the solicitor and we get finally that picture of how Lord Crawley cheated Lord Brandon out of his money. estory

Thank you so much, estory, for another lovely review. I did enjoy writing Bessie's scene, she is such fun. I think she might end up having a series of stories, stopping crimes before they happen to keep the future as we have it now. I'm just thinking about it for now. I'm glad everyone likes her. Now we have most likely stopped Gwendolyn and Jenkins from being the murderers, we have to look at the Brandon's now. Did they? Or, did they not? Were they the murderers? Or were they not? Lol. Such fun. Thank you, dear friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xx

Sandra,
Some books are really designed to be acted out or made into a movie. This could be a great one. I could see it all as you described it and would have loved to be a fly on the wall. Can you only imagine? Oh. Yeah. I guess you did. ha!
Some notes:
1.) Gwendolyn simply stuck (out?) her chin and sniffed.
2.) 'You seem to be very sure of yourself(,)' Jenkins said, as he pointedly
3.) 'Having learnt Latin at Eton College, Miles was familiar with the legal jargon in the document. 'It
--> is there a reason for these quote marks?
Thanks, friend! So glad you're feeling better!

That was great fun with Bessie and Margot putting Jenkins and Gwendolyn, with Bessie posing as Mr Turnbull, moving things around, tweaking cheeks, and making mischief, and terrifying the living daylight out of gruesome twosome, making sure they don't have enough freedom to scratch themselves, well done, blessings Roy

Ingenious tricks by Bessie--you must have had a blast conjuring her mischievous antics. Payback's a bitch. The dialog is stupendous, and the tension is excruciating!

I have not read all of the chapters so I appreciate the recap at the chapters beginning and the character descriptions at the end.
Your phraseology is excellent!!
You use sensory details to their full advantage which allows the reader to connect not only with the characters but their surroundings.
The dialogue is well penned and authentic.
One of my favorite parts of this chapter was when the pencil wrote the message on the paper, a little creepy, but since I read thriller novels I found it enjoyable.

So good to hear about your health improving, Sandra. Soon I'm sure you'll be back to the energetic and enthusiastic Sandra (whom, quite frankly, I've never seen depart). I read this chapter as closely as someone can who is under the grip of its drama, and I could find no nits. There wasn't a word or phrase I'd change. I am just remaining here, bearing witness you your brilliance.

You are such a flatterer, Jay! But I love you, so don't stop! LOL! Thanks so much, my friend, for another lovely review and the golden sixth star, I really apprecation them both. xx
I'm feeling much better, the cough is easing, it's nothing like it was. My main problem now is my ribs, I'm still standing when I type and I still feel tired, but I was told to expect that after what I've been through. My oxygen is now 95, it's making me giddy!! Lol. How are you? Any better? Sending you a big hug and loads of love, Sandra xxx

Hooray! Bessie always gives us such a satisfying performance to scare the bad guys! It seems that Cranky the lawyer was not as bad as we thought and he gave all the evidence to Miles. But what will Miles do with the papers? Would he sue his own father? Can he restore the Crawley estate? Hope Margot can leave Gwendolyn and Jenkins safely without any more plotting from them! Great chapter as always!

I'm so pleased you enjoyed this chapter, Helen, I had such fun writing it. You've asked a right load of questions! Lol, I love that. Not that I'm going to answer any of them. Lol. Thanks so much for this lovely review, my wonderful friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xxx

How is your oxygen level?
-
I went to the hospital last Thursday and it was up to 95!! I was so pleased, and so were they. I still feel tired, but they told me it would take a while to fully recover, but I am recovering, that's the main thing. My ribs still hurt when I sit too long or forget and bend. So I'm still standing to type. Thank you, dear friend, your caring and prayers have really seen me through, I can't thank you all enough. What a family we are on FS! Love you, my friend. :)) Sandra xx
-
Love you, too! Perhaps you could wear some gentle back support brace to remind you not to bend. So glad that the oxygen level is up!! 💖
-
That's a good idea. I'll get one of those. Thanks, Helen. xxx

I love the scene where Bessie played ghost ane scared Gwendolyn and her butler. Mr Roger Crankston-Smythe is blaming everything on Mile's father and Mother.

Hi Beth, thank you so much for another lovely review. I loved writing the ghosty part. In fact, I'm thinking about writing a Bessie detective series, where she is sent all over the place stop crimes from beginning. That would be different. Hmm. Thanks, dear friend. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

Everything seems to be coming to a head except the romance angle. I am eager to read more. How many chapters are left? You did a great job. Enjoy your Sunday. Shirley

Hi Shirley, thank you so much for reading this chapter, and the lovely golden star!! Bessie and Margot are gathering all the evidence and should soon be catching the one who wants to kill Meg. Thanks again, my dear friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xx
When are you going to bring Bethelda back?????????????? I love those stories, and I'm sure you can come up with another plot. But don't upset Bethelda and Anya's love lives! 😊 xxx

I'm thinking on my plot but my mind isn't working well just yet :) I'll think of something. My book went live on Amazon over the weekend. Have a great day. Shirley
