Thank goodness for John Lyons techniques. She reminds me of the horse who starred as Mr. Ed. I always thought male horses were the hardest to break. However, it proves that female horses are sometimes mean as the males. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. Nope, I found fillys were harder to break than colts. I don't know why except they always seemed more fearful than the boys. Hugs.

She may have been difficult, but she was beautiful. I am sorry you had so much trouble with her.
You reminded me of a story I would eventually like to share, so thank you for the inspiration! Best wishes to you.

Thank you. April wasn't much trouble after I learned how to approach her. The new training method worked wonders for her attitude. Hugs.

excellent article
compound sentence;---to saddle train a colt(,)
April loved-avoid using WOULD as much as you can
I thought these were minor changes. I enjoyed reading it and wish you the best.

This is such an interesting read, giving a real insight into the life of horses and their trainers- horse sense is a real thing! 'Orneriness' now there's a word I had to check out1 Joy of being on a writing site!

Thank you. My mother was always telling us we were ornery or full of orneriness. It's a word I grew up with. Thank you for the six stars, I appreciate them. Hugs

This is a great entry for the Teaching Affected Me contest. I particularly appreciated the last line - so true, but rarely expressed. Thanks for your participation in this contest. Kate xx

Thank you for this compliment. I am now a tomato-red writer, above all. Your story was deserving - very well-written and memorable. K

What a nice story of commitment and accomplishment. You just plumb tired ole' April out, she had no ornery left to give you. Your method sounds like it could work with some of our most ornery kids today.
Perfect story, no objections of any kind, no errors at all and well told. Thank you so much. I hope these six-stars will serve as some compensation for what you had to go through with April.

Thank you. April was a tough one. My horse training days are long past. I was in my forties when April came to me and I'm 76 now. Thank you for the six stars, I appreciate them. Hugs.

What an amazing story. Well done for your perseverance, and I am glad that the bonding with April was accomplished, and without injury to either of you. Best wishes for your entry.

Wow, thank you for that compliment. Your story was very well crafted, very meaningful, and had a great concluding line. I think it will do very well, especially because it is a bit different from most.

Your contest entry read well, PBB. The picture is super. I like the
smooth flow, the interesting details, and the outcome of your
story. I'm not familiar with training horses, but that new technique
sounded cruel to the horse.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you. Actually, the John Lyon's method was much kinder than most other techniques. It simply makes the horse bond with the person who has overcome their resistence without force or pain. I would have explained more but for the word limit. Hugs.

How I envy your being a horse-whisperer. I wish I had your input when I was writing my novel The Trining, where so much of it had to do with the protagonist and his bonding with his horse. I didn't know gallop from canter and had to go to Google to find what side of the horse a person mounts from. To a horseperson reading The Trining you'd probably wonder how any reader could trust my writing!
She meant to hurt anyone who dared to invade her personnel space [... dared to invade her PERSONAL space]
I put April in my round corral and drove her first one way and then the other around the pen [This is not a mistake, but I think it would help those of us who are not familiar with what, in your mind's eye you see so clearly; in this scene in the round corral, are you on April, behind her, or in the "hub" of that round corral, and directing from safety? I'm sure it will be cleared up soon enough, but as a writer, I like to keep my images clear in the reader's mind.]
Such a fascinating read! Thanks for entertaining me.

Thank you. I would have liked to explain more in the story but there is a limit of 500 words so I had to cut it short. Thanks for catching my oops! Misspelled word-personal. I will edit and correct. Hugs
