Wow Terry, what an Amazing men he was. I relate from the size he was at birth to the poems he wrote. Also I know this is a different story, but as I love the Gunsmoke shows, he truly makes an awesome Marshal Dillon. His poetry was the way they were written from those years, and why I still love that style the most.
I have to ask you this, because I even read your story to Glen and he couldn't help me. Why??? After your dad did so much to help these people did they give him a citation? I was waiting to hear that they were going to give him a medal for the extra mile he went for his fellow man. That is horrible. Were these radios illegal?
Obviously he was a man who made up his mind to something and he did it, no matter what the odds! I love this man and can see why you would be proud of him. Thank you for sharing this amazing story with us... Debi

Debi, I am honored by the six stars!!!, the citations were awards, not penalties, Thank you! Terry.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Terry. I guess when I hear of citations, I automatically think of it being negative. I am so happy that he was rewarded for his acts of heroism. You had an awesome dad too!

Your dad was truly a big-hearted and generous man and as you describe a true renaissance man. He was curious about the world about him and let nothing stand in his way.
Thank you for the introduction to a wonderful dad and man.
Best wishes,
Mary

This an interesting story about your father. He does sound like a renaissance man. I don't feel you need this sentence at the end of paragraph 2~Here are a few windows into his life. The readers already know the story is about him. You don't need to announce it.
You have written a great story about your father. Including his poem and photo in this piece are the ideal touches to make his personality come alive to the reader. Well-done!

Your father was a renaissance man. He sounds amazing. He didn't mind doing new thing and helping others when he was needed. He was a good poet as well. I enjoyed reading about and reading his last poem which you shared.

What a great tribute to your dad. Sounds like he was a great man, always learning. I like the story of him learning the ham radio, and using his skill to help in a time of need. Also, thank you for sharing his poem.

My son experienced something a little different. I called his job and said I wanted to speak to Mr. Randall and said this is Mrs. Randall without thinking. They all started congratulating him on his new marriage.
I loved your story and your dad was a hero. The poem at the end was beautiful. Happy Father's Day :))
But still, as far as I can see,
It ain't what it's cracked up to be! [I love these two lines.]

Barbara, Thank you for your review! I also want you know that I have finished another story about advice, that I will post in a few days. In the story I have a sentence "The following year..." For the first time I did not use "next"...so, you when you see that...think, "Well that old coot finally learned!" Terry.

I really enjoyed reading this and learning about your father - it's great to hear about people who love innovation and embrace its possibilities. You wrote this clearly and effectively, and I have no suggestions for improving an excellent piece.

I have seen many different Ham Radio "call letters" but I think this is one of the best ones, WA5FDL, he even had different meanings for different times.
What a great story about the flood and your father's reactions. That is a hero, someone who is there when needed, whether called or not, there just because he knew he was needed.
Just a couple of very minor suggestions:
Para 2, Last sentence: Remove one paragraph space.
Para 13, 4th sentence: Add comma after "Right now"
100% agree with your dad, it ain't what it used to be.
Nice tribute, very interesting. Worth every bit of the six I gave you.
