Hello Yvonne,
What a delightful poem. What ever happened to the passing on of wisdom to future generations? Did the pursuit of more pleasure cause us to leave behind the values that sustained so many generations before us? I fear that even worse troubles will fall on the children and grandchildren of the future, and they won't have anyone left to guide them. Thanks so much for sharing this. Well done.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Thank you for such a wonderful review. I do fear for this generation. They don't seem to have the same values I grew up with.

This was a great 'Grandma's Love', damommy. Although, the picture I have seen before, it reminded me of the wisdom that she taught. It was a special blessing that you shared with me and a wonderful rhyme pattern.

Thank you. The picture was assigned by the club. I guess I could have changed it, though. 😄

No, I think it is perfect, the way it was, Yvonne. It made the love more special. You are so very welcome.

Great Poem! The author's words flow and connect well. They are
interesting, admirable, valuable and creative. I found this poem
exactly what Grandmas are and need to be. The artwork is perfect
and compliments this poem.

And you did it with perfect meter and rhyme. I'm glad you had that time with your grandma but I am sure it wasn't easy. I know I can idealize my time with my grandma but my cousins who lived with her probably don't think the same way as she could be easily crossed. Lol.
Great poem for the club challenge!

Thank you. My grandmother could be very manipulative, but she taught me so much.

Your club response is awesome, Yvonne. The rhymes
are smooth and create great imagery. The flow is great. I could
see you and Granny having a session where she taught you
everything you needed to know about life. Yes, Grandmas have
much wisdom to share, and yours had a loving heart. From what
you've shared on FS, I know all the lessons learned have been
carried with you throughout your life. That's a great legacy to
your Granny. I know she's proud of you.
Respectfully, Jan

Hi damommy,
I enjoyed your poem very much.
Actually, there's one line that bothered me. And it's not because of you. It's not poor writing, either. There's a Fanstory writer who uses this type of personification all the time, in almost every poem,
"how to avoid (temptation's lead)"
I like this writer, a good person, but I just can't review (him/her) if the poem includes personification like this.

When I was a young lad, there was an old woman whose back was bent over like a pretzel. It must have caused her a lot of pain through the years. But she never complained. The "granny" in your chosen artwork reminded me of her. She was well up in years, in her 90's I believe, but she had her very own business... selling fine English china, like cups & saucers, and ornaments, etc.

As usual, your lines are tight in meter with nice rhymes.
"I learned a lot at Granny's knee
like sewing and embroidery"

I'd offer one minor suggestion...
"There was so much my granny knew
and told me, so I know it, too." ... (I suggest,
There was so much my granny knew
and told me, so I'd know it, too.)

Nice finish!
"So blessed I was to have that time.
I've shared it all with you in rhyme."

Thanks for sharing a poem about "Grandma's Love"!

Hugs,
Kimbob

Folk were lucky to have grandparents, I never met either of my grandfathers, and we left England when I was very young, so never got to have the benefit from my grandmothers. Just love your post Yvonne, blessings Roy

I'm so glad. I only knew this one grandparent. The others had passed away before I was born. My mother's father, I heard so many stories about him, I felt I knew him.

They didn?t seem to live as long as we do, medical science i guess

My grandmother was in her late 80s. The other died relatively young, though.

My grandmother in England lived to 92, I just missed her when we visited my old home in 1994.

Yes you did! A lovely rhyming poem of your super sweet Granny. I barely knew mine. How blessed you were to know and grow with yours. Sending you my best today as always

All my other grandparents had passed away before I was born. I called her "Mama" and she lived with us. Thank you, Sally.

You were lucky. My grandparents died before I was old enough to have talks with them. I have one granddaughter who was so much fun growing up, now she's 23 and knows everything. I'm kidding in a way. She does think that, but she's a sweetie and calls all the time.
But back to your poem, those really sound like lessons from a bygone era. There are kids today who would probably not have the faintest idea what you were talking about, or if they did, might scoff at them. There are those special ones, though, who wouldn't. (scoff :)
I think it's very difficult if not impossible to "see the good and ignore the rest" with what's going on, today. Afraid I can't.
Those were more innocent times. And I would live to have your memories.
Katharine

Thank you so much. Yes, it was a different time. I wish everyone could grow up in times like that. It's very hard to see the good today, but it's out there. There are more good people than bad. It's always a relative handful who do the worst things.

Oh, I believe the majority of Americans are good, loyal Americans who are sick at heart over what has happened and is happening to their country, and there's nothing they can do about it except vote and hope this time there won't be any tampering. A sad situation.

The magic is that this is written so fluidly that I can imagine a young lass reflecting and reflecting again as years pass ~ each time appreciating more the treasure that her relationship with her "Granny" would appreciate with every passing year.

Beautiful AABB rhyme, and your trademark (but I never take it for granted) perfect meter!

It's Wednesday and I cannot budget stars...

Please accept how much I truly admire this gift of poetry!
