I feel so sad after reading that! It's impossible to pick just one thing I enjoyed, because I love it all! I could find nothing wrong with your poem, either. The image you chose is brilliant as well. Very well done.

Thanks GG. I shed tears when writing this.

This is a sad reality. Casualties in a war are never just the soldiers. Often it's the families - and orphans are left behind. This is a powerful prayer that captures the heart wrenching effects of war. No child should have to suffer such horrors.

Thanks, June. You are right about the plight of the children.

This is a touching poem. I wonder how much a child can understand about war unless like the Ukraine child they are caught in the middle of it. It is sad. The poem is beautifully written.

Thanks, Beth. God bless the little children.

The title drew me to this poem about what's happening in Ukraine's streets - sights no child should see. Your work does a great job of raising awareness about this.
The end is sobering. So many times, children and adults try to bargain with God; if you do this I'll do that. Sad, when His help doesn't depend on anything we can do.

Thanks, Sarah. I can't imagine what is going through the minds of the children over there.

This is a heart-rending prayer for the poem for a child writing prompt. I hope it will do well in the contest as it considers in a simple, humane manner a complex, inhumane topical issue. The cube16 form proves once again how appropriate it is to attack such thorny issues with delicacy.

Oh dear! I could not pass this one by, not with the sorrow I feel for Ukraine, and this beautiful poem has me in tears. It is flawless, and perfect for the prompt, IMHO. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. I enjoyed reading and my prayers continually go out to all the war-torn countries. No child should have have to live in fear.

Thanks, Barb. I can't imagine what scars these children will have if they survive.

Powerful. It serves to make one wonder, whatever happened to Vlad to motivate him to cause so much misery among his fellow human beings? What level of dissatisfaction, ambition or greed, would cause a human being to promote such inhumane actions as are currently going on in the streets, cities and towns of the Ukraine?

A tender heartfelt poem from and for a child of the Ukraine. We are so blessed that our children have not faced the perils of this horrific war.
Well done.
Blessings
