Well, who rescued whom? You did a great job with your poignant free verse. Your words are smooth with great emotion revealed in all of them. I could picture you, your wife, and Hazard taking this stroll. Your words were descriptive and meaningful and straight from your heart. What a blessing your wife received and you and of course the little dog. Y'all are a great family.
Respectfully, Jan

What a wonderful way to have interpreted this picture. Moments such as this become etched in our hearts and can be more powerful healing elements than any medicine.
Some skilful use of poetic techniques in this free verse make it more than a prose account split into lines. A well thought out composition.

Nicely done. Cancer is no ones friend and when it attacks our beloved, we weep. Then with God's blessing the battle is won. Tears once again flow with joy from the soul.
ALl the best, Yard.

Thanks for your thoughts Yard.

It's a lovely poem and tribute to your wife - so glad she's celebrating this fifth anniversary with you.
In the second paragraph, you use the word "that" at both the end of one line and then the beginning of the next line, so you might want to eliminate one of those.
Best wishes to you and your love.

It is wonderful that she is cancer free. My grandfather was not as lucky and succumb to cancer several years ago. The pieces quite and peaceful and somehow full of hope despite the pull at the heart when you learn of the "cancer treatments."
