Considering concerts were cancelled, "the music actually died" struck a cavernous hollow in my soul, a pun of metaphor and reality.
Regarding "a country that has always been so preoccupied with perpetuating a myth, that it never aspired to live up to the myth" I can't help but think it's easier to believe a friend can succeed and share that with them, than to convince oneself of ones own potential.
I love the point, "We are a society rife with contradictions rolled up in hypocrisies" because this has been the source of so much internal conflict for me personally as different ideas (mutually supported by our society) battle it out (usually to a point of stalemate).

I think America was on its way out long before the pandemic. It may have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but it has been coming a long time. I have watched this country degenerate since I have been in this world. Morals and kindness went first then kept going downhill from there. I can relate to your writing and admire you for having the courage to write this. Good work
