A really good poem. The meter and rhyme scheme are excellent. My mother used to play the piano before she passed away some years ago. I now sit down at the keyboard from time to time and reflect on the bygone days.

Poem loaded with mixed feelings: religion, loneliness, search and also, findings.

When I find no answer to inexplicable and painful events, I always have a phrase that feeds me to move on: "From above, There is a God who does not do things well, nor very well. He makes everything just per-fect". It is always our vision that sometimes we only see a part of the movie...

This is beautiful, mystery writer. My condolences on your loss. Even if remote, the loss can stay with us. Your entry here tells me that you have taken away a wonderful memory and a way to remember you mother through music. You are right in your author notes that music is food for the soul. Thank you for sharing this piece of you with the readers on this site, and best of luck in the competition.

The Bible advises Christians to teach their children, to share their faith with them as a way to guard them against the forces, happenings and circumstances that may very well ensnare them, tapping them in a life of sin. The book of Deuteronomy especially tells parent to teach them when you get up when you lie down, when you walk upon the roadway, virtually at all times, but not continuously. That would be too much and would probably turn them off. We are also told that if we teach a child the right way to go, they will not likely turn away to follow the wrong path. Most importantly we must teach by example.

A very good poem for this contest, good luck. Remembering your mother this way must be both a blessing and a fun experience to relive all her music. My mother was a member of her church choir, so I knew all the songs as well. Good job.

Sorry for the loss of your mother so early in your life. It seems though she taught you what you needed to know to keep you strong. Her songs and her faith helped you through.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

This is a lovely tribute to your mother and to your faith. I flows beautifully and it is well rhymed. Your illustration pairs well with your words. Nicely done.

What comforting words you have penned, and it is so easy to imagine this as being a true story. Your meter is faultless, the rhyme scheme lovely, but it's the sentiment that I found so moving -- beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

This is a wonderful poem that reminds me how important music is to us all. My dad has dementia, and his best days are definitely when we get the music just right and get his hands and feet dancing (more than that is impossible now as he isn't mobile any more).
