This does not bode well. Why in the world is Marlene doing this to herself? It makes me wary when a man wants his love to keep changing to fit his own desired image. I believed this is a story about one of those dominant men who seem to revel in influencing his woman, either by threat or violence. And sad to say that women are often powerless to resist this kind of relationship. It is a well written story.
