So Julia might have and actual German cousin that they don't know about. Hmm, very interesting. I can't wait to find out. Of course, during those parties, Anneliese may not have known who the father was, if she was pregnant.

Thank you for this review. I think she had her eye on the main chance.

Julia is pretty smart to catch the fact Allen mentioned
Anneliese's last name. She was the only one who knew of course, but how did she know? Now she will be curious about the fact she just might have a German cousin. What will happen next? Nancy:)

Julia is a very smart girl. Her only fault is being unable to cope with nature's aberrations - remember that lamb. Many thanks for reviewing.

Uhm, the plot just suddenly got a great deal thicker. So thick in fact, stirring the pot will be difficult to say the least. You are very clever. I never saw this development coming, never even suspected it in the least. I am quite sure that this is just a diversionary antic, but it has certainly so far worked very well. I am now totally confused and unsure of what I should or should not think. One thing is for sure, I am no longer so sure of what I know or what I think I know. Very good. Bloody good!

Thank you for the magnificent comments as well as the six stars. I wonder what you thought might transpire.

I was thinking of full disclosure. I thought that Peter Allen might say that the gunner appears to be the son of Tom Joliffe's one time lover.

Well at least we know that Heather isn't against having a German cousin. In fact, I think she would like to meet him if and when Peter eventually opens up about him. I loved the way Tommy told his story, and the Hände hoch, hands up! Loved that. LOL. Now what is Peter Allen going to do next? He knows now that the Anneliese's letter was true. We learned a lot in this part, Jim, well done, I really enjoyed reading it. :)) Sandra xxx

It was perhaps as bit bold of me to retell this story from the point of view of the home guard. Your comments at least seem to point to it having worked. Thank you so much for this review.

Absolutely. It worked well, and it was funny as well. Of course the home guard enjoyed having got one over the others. :))

Friendly rivalry between the services. The regulars always thought of the home guard as a bit of a joke, so this was a great chance to get their own back

I have read a previous chapter, and I must admit that my interest has increased manifold with the intriguing turn of events. I don't think I am competent enough to comment on your storytelling skills. You are my Guru and I try to learn something by reading your stories and comments.
You have terrific use of dialogue, which is the key to every successful story. I liked your characters, Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much for these six stars. Oh not a guru please. Teacher yes but not a guru. Many thanks though for the lovely review and the six stars.

The story as related by Tommy about capturing the Germans was very funny and he was very proud that as a member of Home Guard he had been a part of it. It was interesting that Julia picked up on Allen mentioning the name Steinhauser and that it would matter to her if she German cousin. I wonder if there is a way she can follow up to find out more.

I guess Allen satisfied himself that the German soldier was the son of Tom Jolliffe. Now I guess you will show us how he uses that information. Will Julia pursue the possibility of a cousin? Another excellent chapter.

You will have to follow this on to Book 3 to get the full answer to your question. Meanwhile, many thanks for this six star review.

I have read a previous chapter or two, and must say you now have me well hooked--I look forward to reading the entire book when it becomes available--I find nothing to criticize as your storytelling skills are terrific--I find myself going over the dialogue trying to repeat it with the likely accents of the speaker--good fun! This story is intriguing, and so unlike most wartime tales which focus on the warriors more often than not. Thank you for sharing.

All the Best!

Phil
