Aha! So that's how a German boy has laid claim to being half-English. Now the thick plottens. lol. It seem that Our Tom would have sold his sister to the party goers. What a man!

As she said, he could be nasty when cornered. A proper snake in the grass our Tom. Many thanks for this review that gets right to the point.

Annaliese was the German auntie Julia never had, but she may now have a German cousin she doesn't know. I wonder how much more Allen will discover, now that elderberry wine is loosening people's tongues. I had to smile when I read that the Colonel was "quite awash" in all the tea he was being served. I'm generally a teetotaler myself, but that elderberry wine sounds delicious.
My list of suggested revisions:

Tom Jolliffe was really quite the womanizer, no matter how much Heather tried to deny his hedonism. Going after Mortimer's daughters! But he found his dalliances elsewhere.

I guess that does say it all. LOL I think that must be the
information Allen has been waiting for. He needed to find the connection between the German soldier and the Joliffe farm so let's hope this is the clue. Well done Jim. Nancy:)

Well, not quite as Allen will be quick to point out next time. Many thanks though for this six-star review.

So Mr. Allen is going to get the information he was looking for. I can't wait for myself. Like the story.
Allen sensed that what he was after was just around the corner, so he smiled to encourage her to go on. (you can omit 'that')
He had to be sure that there had been no collusion between Germany and Jericho Farm back then with the war clouds gathering for that earlier conflict.
(I have 2 questions about this sentence. It reads like it's dialogue, but it's not in quotation marks, if it's not dialogue then the 'that' needs to be removed.)

Thank you so much for your perceptive review. The 'thats' that were there attracting your attention are the 'thats' that I have just removed, so that is quite enough of that. Lol.

Yes indeed I will get rid of those thats. Many thanks for this review.

Dog-gonit! Please excuse the American expression. You had me all ready to learn what I hoped to be the vital information Peter Allen sought. I should have known that I was destined to frustrated a bit more. I will just have to wait a bit more it seems.

here are only four more chapters to this book so you should get to know all you need within the next couple of weeks. Mind you we will be starting Book3 after that. Thank you so much for sticking with me,

As if I could go anywhere else and be so entertained. I do not know the name of the drug you used on me, but I am nevertheless hooked. Smiles.

I found this chapter quite intriguing. The language was something I had to get use to but once I had, the story flowed smoothly.
Only because I believe you to be a perfectionist, I point out one extra word in the introduction.
"mentioned mentioned that"
I really find your writing exceptional, Gynt.

Comment from Judy Lawless
I like the way you continue with the intrigue in this chapter. We're getting closer to the answer Allen needs, it seems. But the elderberry wine, might delay the process. lol Another great chapter.

Many thanks for this complimentary, six-star review. Only four more chapters in this book then we will embark on book 3. So I reckon they will cope adequately with the elderberry wine.

You are welcome! Glad to know.:)

I really enjoyed this exchange and learned quite a bid more of what was going on with Tom and his parties. Of course, just as you get to the part we are anxious to here about, the conversation get interrupted and we have to wait for another chapter. I'm enjoying it.
