A lovely tribute to your friend and her love of flowers. Nice entry for the club as well. "faintest of fragrances on the wind", I especially enjoyed that line. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you.

You did a great job with your free verse for the club. I enjoyed reading it. Your words are well-chosen and perfectly describe this awesome woman who loved flowers. Even as age stole her memories, she still remembered her love of flowers. I like how those in attendance agreed with her when she called the smells by a wrong name. The last few lines about what you perceived during her funeral were great. Those words were filled with great imagery. I love the idea of Grandma watching from Heaven. Your words flow well, the words are descriptive, and the storyline well thought through.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Jan, very kind words and yes Billie was so special, my sister-in-law who lost her husband on January 1st this year, but only knew he was gone, perhaps in y empty space in her soul. They are now reunited...

This is a very beautiful and very well written free verse poem you have penned about your loved one. You used very good descriptive words and very lovely and appropriate imagery from the art work you chose. Thank you for sharing this with us. Blessings, Teri

I am so grateful for the six star validation. Billie, my sister-in-law was a star in her own sky.

Again I find myself without six stars to give you for this wonderfully sensitive and colorful poetry, Jim I am wondering if this, really is in fact, someone you were acquainted with before her passing. Very good images, and writing, my friend. Bob

Yes, she was my sister-in-law.

You've created story of love and admiration for a beautiful woman. Her passion for and knowledge of flowers is evident. Such a shame that age took that away from her, but it is nice to think that she still recognizes them all from above. You've met the challenge will.

I enjoyed your submission very much. To me it is bittersweet.
If I may, I noticed one typo:
to her most certain claim of fragrence.
-fragrance
I do not know much about free verse poetry, so I should probably skip reviewing yours, but I just wanted to tell you that this is a lovely tail and story of your friend. I am sorry for your loss. Hugs and blessings to you

Dear JLR, what a wonderful contribution you have made to our Free Versers Club challenge.
I love the image of Billie, leaning down from heaven to the smell the flowers that she loved so much.

I've often wondered what the visions seems by the dearly departed have seen, it's funny every one of the believers I've known before they depart have looked forward with anticipation to that future, that we, who believe, look to, where "death has no sting, and the grave has no victory" beautifully written Jim, well done, blessings Roy

Enjoyed your lovely free verse tribute to your gardening friend. You made it sounds beautiful - that she can breathe in the even more fantastic fragrances of flowers in Heaven. Did she have some dementia? It sounds like she started to smell differently than before.

She has advance stage dementia, for nearly ten years. it is such a blessing that she is now spiritually free and her body is a rest.
