I am going to get a reputation for pedantry as far as you are concerned but I think one should say 'redolent of' rather than redolent with. An idea caught me while reading this. There is a perfume, popular with older women called 'attar of roses', and it has five syllables, like your last line.

I really like your last line and will jump on the suggestions... I do not know why I want to use ..with.. instead of .. by.., but it seems to be the way I naturally say those phrases. Thanks so much, Jim.

Actually I dislike the smell of it intensely, as it reminds me of care homes. But it did seem as it might be appropriate here.

The warmth and the roses are good metaphors for love. This ihas the sense fo mourning for the loss of a loved one or spouse.

Beautiful work up and presentation for this poem. I low this picture of the rose garden. I love all kinds of roses new and old. They hold so many memories of the old days.
