This is Excellent non-fiction writing. These bikers were very fortunate things weren't a lot worst. Luckily they all survived and were rescued. Thankfully A happy ending for all. Good luck in the contest.

Jaonne, Yes, I believe both riders had the archangel Michael riding with them on this day. 🙏

Amen - our family and friends have had numerous close calls - life's too unpredictable without adding the threat of a motorcycle accident. A farmer's cow in the middle of the night saved my brother's life. The mooing woke up the farmer. Glad your bikers had someone there to help as well. Good luck with the contest.

Hello JLT
Well, it isn't just in your neck of the woods (no pun intended). I live halfway across the globe from you and I can tell you the same story almost, except the fog and mist is caused by the topography and climate rather than the ocean - but my experience was always with the logging trucks that you refer to. I know they are doing a job, but they travel so slowly - I would rather such freight was railed.
I think it safe to say that not all bikers are risk-takers, but we tend to notice the ones who are, and the ones who are often travel in packs.
One point from your story is that the bikers were saved by a seed that fell possibly hundreds of years before: it could have sprouted a metre either side of where they tumbled.
Hopefully no one was harmed badly and a lesson was learnt, not just by you and the other passers by.
Thank you for the posting: an engaging read - a 'slice of life' as they say.
I wish you well - stay safe
cheers
phill

What a terrible scene you came upon here? How tragic and foolish to speed ahead when there is fog or mist and visibility is poor. I once worked for a car insurance company and I saw some horrific scenes and few bikers survived with there life in tact and those who survived suffered horrific life-changing injuries, no wonder this put you off bikes for life, an interesting and sad story, love Dolly x

Dolly, in my early career I was a surgical trauma tech and I know I saw the mangled results of those insurance photos.

This is a really good story. Motorcycles are as safe as cars but the idiots that ride them are just as deadly. I liked the end and thought, serves them right. They give real bikers a bad name. Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest. Stay safe.

Thank you, it seems it is always just a handful of risktakers that cast the long shadow over good bikers.

Very descriptive and you set the tone by describing the scenery. I feel that I can actually see the bend in the road and the bikers speeding to disaster.
