All of the discussion back and forth, with more speculation than facts, creates more and more intrigue. Makes me want to tell them what we know! lol. Another wonderful chapter.

Yes. It is a bit like shouting at the radio is it not? It is a feeling I wanted to create in my readers, so thank you for letting me know, in your review, that it is working as intended.

PANTYGYNT:
The pictures you use really enhance your writings as it makes it easier
to imagine the areas about which you speak. It is interesting to note
that the early closings were legal requirements. It will be quite
interesting if ole Bertram knows more than people give him credit
for and if what he has to say is true this time and not mere gossip.
I can barely wait to find out if I'm correct.

I am sorry to keep leaving you on tenterhooks and of course if you were reading this in the normal way you might easily turn the page. Never mind. Wednesday is not that far off. Many thanks for your review.

Anticipation is sometimes hard to deal with. I am very anxiously awaiting the outcome of this possibly fortuitous meeting with Bertram the butcher. What he will or will not disclose is of utmost interest to me. I am virtually on pins and needles.

Certainly it might appear at this stage that Bertram could become a major player. We shall see. I thank you for your anxiety as well as for your review.

It is an ongoing pleasure to delve into the vagaries of men and the things that drive them.

Dear Jim, As for your story I am picking up on the clue about only blondes, unmarried and pregnant committing suicide. This has me speculating that only a very powerful person who had a preference for blondes, would make a woman feel like, they had no other choice than to take their own life.

I think it is not so much the power of a single person but the the pressures brought about by society that might have caused unmarried, pregnant girls to take their own live or something even stronger, a feeling of guilt. Once we get to that point, pregnancy fades into insignificance. Many thanks for this review.

The minds of these men are still open to many possibilities regarding Hettie, but they seem both in agreement that it was not suicide at least, we will see how the lawyers investigations go in the next episode, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

They are in agreement that this was not suicide because of pregnancy outside marriage but there is still possibly another cause as well as the possibility of it not being suicide. Many thanks for this six star review.

Hi Jim, a great continuation to the story and the conversation. Yes, I certainly believe that murder was on the cards. Now we are to be confronted with Bertram.

No really new news in this post. I am curious about many things and I am sure they will all be eventually answered. I am a little curious why doesn't anybody speak to Heather. I have a feeling she has some thoughts on the subject.

Allen wants to to speak to her but wants to have as much background as he can first and of course, he has given his word to Charles not to upset her, so he has to proceed cautiously. Many thanks for the review.

I can't wait till they get to the bottom of all of this. I'm sorry, Jim, but I can't remember when or how Tom Joliffe died. How did Heather deal with her Tom leaving so abruptly?
That storm ruined the lives of several people that year didn't it. Nancy:)

You can't remember because that information has yet to be divulged. As far as Allen was concerned he knows only that conveyed by his epitaph. How Heather coped depends she has to say when and if Allen gets to see her. Yes. The storm was a turning point. Many thanks for this review.

We're really getting deep into whodunit now. It's a bit confusing with all the Toms, as I'm sure it must be for Charles and Peter. Interesting about early closing days. I wonder why it was repealed?
-damage to the body was [more the] result
-you would [most likely be able to talk]

Pressure from retailers earned the repeal - greed for more money was the reason although there is now pressure to bring it back to relieve pressure on staff. Thank you so much for the review.

You didn't give me too much. Looks as if I will have to wait for the interview with the butcher. I cannot believe Tom Warburton had anything to do with murdering Hettie. Perfectly written.
