I remember them all, and others. I had his Birthday message come into my emails, it does make you sit up and take notice. It's so sad they aren't around any more. Phyllis Stewert was another favourite and good friend of mine, she was the one who encouraged me to write prose. I'll always be so grateful to her. Gungalow, (Pam) I don't know if you knew her, she was really so supportive and helpful. It was a shock when she died as it was so sudden. There are many more who have died but not on the 'Eternal Flame' and I do remember them fondly. I always remember Dean telling me about a time he 'died' and how black everything was. I hope that he found light, and joy when he died. I went to Brooke's classes, she was great and so helpful. You have opened up a minefield of memories for me, Gareth. So many lovely people who never, ever put a person down, but would always be there for you if you needed help. Their talent will shine on. Thanks for writing this, I feel quite emotional now. :)) Sandra xx

I had a lot of arguments with Phyllis and she muted me a few times! lol but she was great. I had that conversation with Dean too. I'll bet it's not like that for hi now... although he may have liked it! All the best G

Oh, I had some quite fiesty arguments with Phyllis, but we always made up before we broke off. I think she quite enjoyed them. :))

What a superb reminder of what this site is meant to be. We're here to support and learn and teach and write and read! I must admit, the "game" aspect annoys me. When I joined a couple of months ago, I was excited about receiving valuable feedback and honing my critical skills so that I could also offer valuable and respectful feedback to others. But if others don't know I exist, and I don't know that they exist, because we don't have the funny money to promote our writing, what's the point of joining?
I'm so glad I stumbled onto your essay. I will definitely read the Flames.

Thank you for telling us this. I took a class with Dean once and we had a great time chatting. He was always pleasant in his reviews. Michael Cahill was one of the first friends I made here. He was my champion. I will always love Michael. I had told him I would keep the free verse going until he returned, but so sadly, he passed away. I miss him very much. I didn't know the lady, but I've heard wonderful things about her.

Yep, Michael was my go-to in my first year. first comp I won, I beat him. Second one I beat Dean. lol Love those guys. G

In addition to the useful information you provided, I enjoyed "allegedly working on a chapter when I decided to pop onto Facebook", I laughed at that line as I've recently decided FB is such a distraction and time hog I deleted it from my phone which is where I access it most of the time. :)
