Nicely done! I'd say you'd get my vote, but I entered this one, too, so apologies. This piece taught me things, which is always a bonus! You did a great job with your rhyme scheme, and I love your accompanying art. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you so much for the review and nice comments. These contests aren't easy to win because there is so much competition. Good luck with your poem as well.

Hey I really enjoyed reading this poem. I learned something new, as I knew nothing about Elks or their mating habits. My grandson is an avid mountain man and has been confronted by Elk kin the Col. Mnts, and says they can be moody and dangerous. I would suppose that would have to do with their sexual drive. Anyway, great poem

I enjoy learning about all animals and you have done us proud with this lovely poem, Beth. We could learn from animals, they could teach us more than we could teach them. I really enjoyed reading about your Elk, they are fascinating animals. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Well, Beth, haven't seen you in a while, but what a wonderful 'HELLO' this poem is, my lady!! ;) Beautiful in both rhythm and rhyme and keeps the reader's attention throughout -- lovely offering for the contest or for any day! ;) Thanx for sharing the Elk through your musical pen this morning and best of luck in the contest! ;) Yvette
P.S. The sixer quiver is empty so please know this is a virtual! ;)

Thank you so much, Yvette. I really appreciate the delightful review and virtual six stars. I've been around. I've post to chapters a week and last week too poems. I've not seen your posting either. I guess I need to become your fan, so I'll be notified.

Yes, deer are in the rut here in Tennessee. I've seen several herds along the roads. Our Jeep still has the damage when a deer side swiped us one night. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you, Mike. I really appreciate the review and comment. I feel very honored that you awarded me six stars. In the Chattanooga area, I have a deer that roam around my 19 acres, but don't usually see over three at a time.

Your poem entices this reader to visit Cataloochee in North Carolina to see elk. I have never seen them in the wild. Your poem is not only entertaining but quite informative.

It is really something interesting to see. They don't pay a lot of attention to visitors unless they come too close. The males sometime lock horns with each other and the sound they make are unique. They do a lot of pawing the earth and all sorts of interesting things. In spring you can see the new calves.
Thanks for the review and comments.

In this take a photo poem, a contest entry, speaks a nice story about viewing elk in Elk Country while walking and watching them in rutting season; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR
