Too cute for words, Yvette. You're such a wonderful writer. Setting, plot, characters, conflict, resolution all in the requisite 80 words.
Delightful upbeat snippet of life.
Best of luck in the contest.
Stay safe healthy and creative

Well, you've got me blushing and smiling like a little kid, Julia - Thanx so much for this awesome review, my lady!! ;) :) :) You know, eighty words aren't much, and I worry on these short ones that I might miss points 'in my head' and forget to 'spell them out' for the reader... so glad you really enjoyed! ;) Take care! ;) Yvette

This eighty-word flash fiction story, Grandma's Magical Gift, has the required word count and finds the son fulfilling a promise that his mom had made. Sweet and truly magical moment.

Enjoyed your story as fun and clever. Particularly the ending that the father fulfills both his dad's last wishes and delighting the daughter who knew exactly what grandpa meant in his will. Grandpa and the daughter must have had a special bond.
Good luck in the contest.

Yvette,
You know I always enjoy your work immensely. These two short pieces show off your talent to great advantage. Though I love FF, it's hard to me to come up with these tiny ones. My hat is off!
Thanks and good luck!

You do know how to give a girl a boost on a Monday morning -- thank you for that!! ;) I usually have to play the 'cutting' game and make sure not to 'cut' something important to get it down to the word count- lol! ;) Yvette

Apparently Grandpa was a dreamer and didn't have much left to give anyone after he died. However, he did have a 'magical' heart and mind. That is evident in his gift to Katy. He and Katy shared a special bond that he honored after his death. Katy's mom was probably expecting and big inheritance. She found out that wasn't the way it would be.
Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

This skillfully-composed little story creates suspense at the get-go--then resolves the situation through the innocent joy of the little rabbit-loving child. That smirk on Dad's face speaks loudly too!

What an innovative story of a wonderful Grandpa who didn't just love his granddaughter but knew her well enough to know she'd be expecting whatever he had promised and kept it. LOL

"She scooped it into a hug." Just like Grandpa promised! "
Katy's mom eyed her husband, Charles ... who simply smirked."
Beautiful conclusion of this 80 words flash fiction contest entry that the little girl Katy accepts with joy as a promise from her deceased grandfather.
She opens the expensive trunk, coveted by all those present, and a bunny comes out that her grandfather had promised his granddaughter Katty that she embraces with immense love in front of the amazement of all those present who aspired to this inheritance. How beautiful is the innocence of the pure soul of children! in front of the simple joyful events that adults will never understand the experience. The Child is the father of man / Wordsworth)

Good luck in the contest Yvette. This was great, it was awesome and the last sentence was priceless. I guess Charles knew some of the will and wanted it to be a wonderful surprise for Katy. Well done.
