T,
How cool. There are some things that rise above our human arguments and disagreements. I would have to hope that when the chips are down, we are all still human at heart and still care about the bigger picture. This was well written and provided a great message. Thanks and good luck!

I have enjoyed reading your story. This story meets the requirements for the contest. It has a very good chance of winning the contest. Excellent work! I like it. Good luck on the contest!

Hello TEOLS2016.
This is an interesting story with an unexpected setting. The dialogue stresses the danger in the court. You have written a flash with a setting that is on people's minds these days.
Nicely done with active verbs and descriptions featuring power packed sentences. Good job.
Good luck in the contest.
Robert

An interesting choice of flash fiction, but I'm seeing a little contradiction here. Carol was sick that day yet she was there? Was she lying about her whereabouts for some reason?

No, she wasn't there. The woman who spoke was one of her clerks. Thank you for reviewing.

Hm, Vietnam training and exposure came in handy in this story, and even enables the main character to save an opponent. I guess in the face of danger we are all allays. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

A very well-written flash fiction. Many people have different opinions and interests. We don't need to embrace our colleagues every day but bin times of emergency we help each other.

There is an associate justice of the Supreme Court lying in state today. Soon her memorial will take place. She was such an icon for women's rights. If a shooting occurred, as in your story, what would she have done?

I'd have liked to think she too put idology aside, like Carol Willet and Craig.

I'm sure she would have....

Your ending brought this whole tense story together nicely. Helping others even when on opposite sides, without thinking of your own safety, sends out a strong moral, one that needs to be seen more often in real life. Being an ex serviceman shows his training and instincts are never forgotten. Well done and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Your contest entry reads well. It is suspenseful as to what is happening and will they all survive. The justice who saved the three from the library was awesome. His training served him well--something no military man would ever forget. I like that it didn't matter they were on different sides in the courtroom.
Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan
