Great story, Sal! Yes, there's a lot to be said for that wise little voice. My Mom says that when the hairs rise up at the back of your neck, pay attention. Knowing you now, it's also interesting to read a story from the days when you had a young family.

Wow. So this really happened. Your description really put me in the moment. The action was crisp and structured in a way the reader falls right into the action and is caught on the boat. Those moments when nature turns on you with a vengeance make for great true stories. Amen.

Dear Sally, this most certainly was a close call. Those sudden squalls can be deadly as you were well aware whilst out in the middle of it. Excellent descriptors with the black fingers reaching across the sky and skimming over the top of choppy water.
It seems your prayers were answered, and yes, it's always a good idea to listen to that little voice with big knowledge.

After that experience you would listen for sure. There could be nothing worse than having your entire family in danger. Strange that you speak of that passage in the Bible, I am currently studying it to write about. Enjoyed the suspense in your story.
