Oh I love this journey back to my own childhood. SO similar. I've lost my brother but we used to talk about all these very things...it's hard to to want to play kick the can. I do, very much...wish I could go back...even just to the day my brother passed...Beautiful work Beth...best of luck in your contest too! Susan

This poem is amazing, alive with vivid imagery and told in a lovely rhyme. I could see all that I read, and it was a pleasure to do so. Thank you so much for sharing

This is indeed a journey back that you must have enjoyed. You wrote this so well and brought so much to the fore of your long-ago days. Many of them mirror mine in that I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and grandfather, as well I relate to the lovely art of the girl climbing the tree. My favorite pastime. A great job here. I wish you well in the contest.

This sounds like life of a farm from the eyes of a child. Some good memories here and some good advice at the end of the poem.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Hello, Beth,
Beautiful entry for the Rhyming Poetry Contest. Sometimes, when I can't go to sleep I go back to memories of my life. It's good to keep the good memories.
Good job, I wish you well.

Write a rhyming poem...Well, you did, and it is a winning one, according to me. Just wonderfully done, Beth. So many well-described images of childhood, beautiful memories!
Even if you don't win (and I can't imagine that you won't) I give you six stars already.

A very well-written rhyming poem and a wonderful trip down memory lane where we rediscover ourselves when we were children and realize that was the best time of our lives and that us how we should live now.

What an absolutely delightful poem! I had a wonderful childhood, and often go back to certain parts of it in my mind. I find it so comforting, especially tree climbing. This poem brought back memories and I could feel yours. Thank you for this great poem!

Awe, Beth, what a beautiful written poem going down memory lane. I was there with you as if you held my hand and took me along to see and feel how it really was. I have no six- now I wish I did. What a joy to read. Ulla:)))

Dear Beth, your rhyming skills really shine in this epic tale of a childhood remembered. Your descriptions of each adventure just seemed to fall into the rhythm set up in the very first stanza; but my very favorite part was the 'words of wisdom' you uttered in the last.
