All those pleasantries you used to enjoy, curtailed by the coronavirus, are likely to be yours again, although we can't predict when. Meanwhile, be as careful as possible and don't lose hope.

Thank you for the review. Many of those things are still available in spite of the virus. We just have to look for them. Life is still good.

I feel the same and the feelings you describe here are powerful and we are trying to save our own lives here and enjoy all the wonderful things the world has to offer, but instead we live in fear of what's outside our own front door. I pray for better times to come and your free-verse is uplifting, love Dolly x

Blessings and thank you for sharing your Yearning For Good Things. This entry for the free verse contest is excellent. The many things you yearn for are also shared in yearning by others but your last stanza shows that we still have a say in whether those days and things we yearn for will return.

Beautiful meditative free verse, Beth! You took me straight to Philippians 4 and you call us to think about whatever is lovely (like in nature), pure, (like children's laughter). Let's think on these things so we stay sane. Virtual six!

So glad I had a six for this. I loved every word, every phrase, all the feelings conveyed. Just yet another good poem and write from your dear self. So glad I happened this quite by accident. Great picture as well. No spags! Wishing you well in the contest.

O yes indeed Beth, this is beautifully written my friend, right from the soul, where our humanity lives, but I like the Spirit of God, who occupies my essence and reveals to me the beauty of all these things. I love this deftly written work Beth, blessings, Roy

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I seldom write in free verse so without any rules I don't quite no how to go about it.

I thought you did a marvellous job, there are some conventions to follow, but it differs from prose, you did brilliantly, you?re a good writer Beth.

This is such a beautiful poem. You have made excellent use of numerous specific details to convey a powerful message about how you long for the normal sights, sounds, smells; how your heart cries out for what's now missing.

A very well-written free verse poem about the better things in life we start missing when we keep hearing all the doom in the world, we truly need some uplifting things to brighten up our days.

A very challenging and exciting free verse, polished to perfection. Your words take us to the far away places and your poetry is delight to the ear:
My eyes long to experience the beauty of the world--
majestic mountains, cascading cataracts,
gentle streams flowing through lush meadows,
sunsets, rainbows, and starlit nights,
ocean waves gently lapping at sandy beaches.
I wish you luck in the contest.

It seems you have just described all the things you can look for and enjoy in the time you have left. It seems you are dreaming of a perfect world where nature and human nature are fresh and haelthy. The repetition enhances the emotion in the poem.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
