Excellent written poem. To some people, money is more important than human lives. These people have no empathy and no compassion. Also.
how many people are in the stock market?

    Thanks, Barbara.

I believe in the US many people's pension plans are linked to the stockmarket in some way... However, what struck me here was the lack of empathy, as you say.

    Stay safe.

Isn't this apples and oranges? Should we only tweet about doom and gloom? Can we not celebrate and embrace our economy making a recovery? And people going back to work? Shall we just suppress any good news about anything? Please, everyone, please don't tweet that the sun came up this morning!

Hi, Susan. Thank you for your honest response to my post.

No, we shouldn't only tweet about doom and gloom. But maybe, on the day our country surpassed 100,000 deaths from this deadly virus, we should not be dancing in the streets and crying 'Whoopee!' either.

The only point my poem was making was about the insensitivity of the timing.

It is very revealing what people notice to get excited about - especially when their interest lies in money rather than the humanity of empathy for tragic loss. Bad timing, bad feeling. Those Trumps are the pits.

    Thanks, Lisa.

Just unbelievable that both father and son didn't even seem to notice the tragedy.

Stuff like this makes me sick.

Just goes to show, Steve, the rotten apple doesn't fall far from the poisoned tree. Yet, I still I worry Americans will make another dreadful mistake.

Even if Trump is defeated in November, he won't go away.

Peace, Lee

Yes, it's a worry that he still has any support at all. I am more confident than you, by the sound of it, that he will get handed a rousing defeat. I was interested to hear Biden say that he wouldn't pardon Trump... so maybe he will go away.

Yes, I agree, it just goes to show is more important than human life, I do believe when investors realise that America's economy's not in great shape, and they'll Still have the death toll. Good job, blessings, Roy

Yep, Eric is definitely tone deaf and missed the point entirely of what he really should've been not only tweeting, but also feeling. But, I guess that's what happens when you don't believe the number of deaths is real or that the novel virus is much more than a seasonal flu, which believe me, are also very virulent.

It's a pity when people create false stories to rationalize their lack of empathy.

Anyway, great social commentary as much as it might be.

Thanks, Gloria. It's just hard to believe anyone could be so crassly insensitive. Could it be he just failed to notice the number that was splashed across every news channel? Nah! Just ignored it to push the other more positive figure.

Were these five words the only ones included in the tweet? I saw this in the political forum thread, too. Just because I ask this question doesn't mean I'm supporting it or not.
Respectfully, Jan

Hi, Jan. I just checked this to be sure I got it right. He was re-tweeting a post from the Washington Examiner which briefly reported on a surge in the stock market. The five words quoted were what he added when he re-tweeted their post.

To be clear, I am not saying he made any link between the stock market and the death toll. It just seemed particularly insensitive to post such a happy and excited tweet on the day when the tragic number was reached.

Wow, this really says it all, doesn't it.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. No one seems to want to take our current situation seriously. I guess at some point they will have to, probably too late.

The author's words are funny and not funny, descriptive and creative.
I wasn't sure how to respond to this poem but found a way. The words
are certainly clear. The artwork is perfect and go well with this poem.
Hope you are doing well.....harmony13

So good to see compassion and sincerity run in the family. What's more, it appears intelligence, or lack there of is also a shared trait. But I have no doubt, it is all FAKE news.

Hi, Bob. Long time no see. Yes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just another day for them and an obvious attempt to downplay the unfolding tragedy.
