My mum left me in January 2014, and I am still mourning her passing. I miss her so much, it's painful. I understand the words you wrote in your poem, Tom, our mothers are so special, and not to have them near, is so hard. I'm so sorry, my friend, I know just how you feel. Good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xxx

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Judging by the pain in this poem I feel like she didn't pass on that long ago. This is a creative way of honoring her memory. It seems like she was such a strong woman emotionally. And she held you guys together. She would love this piece. Great job

I think this is very well crafted. It reads like it is all just spilling out in a moment of grief, though is clearly thought out to achieve this. The last few lines provide a more positive hopefulness of a thought that although hurtful is full of love and foreverness.

A poignant description of the devastating effect of losing one's mother. It reads with a strong sense of personal emotion. Your metaphor of the atom being split apart is a powerful and appropriate one. Mothers are often the central force holding families together. Good luck with this one in the contest, Tom. It should be well up with the leaders.

Mothers are often the heart of a home. When we lose them, we age on the spot. I feel both the desperation in this poem and the necessity to cling to her Mother's untouchable presence. The capitalization works here A con would be I'd like more stanzas with a few memories
