LOL! Matt and Jiffy are going to learn what army life is really like now!! What a couple of plonkers they are. I think they should have checked up what army life is all about. I can't wait to read how they get on in Happy Valley. LOL. Well done, Bill, I enjoyed this part. :)) Sandra xx

Matt and Jiffy are actually more typical of recruits than one might gather. Instant obeying of commands is antithetical to most people.

Yes, you're right there. I think i'd struggle, too. I'm sure it doesn't take long to learn, though. :))

Maybe a little hard labor will take their sarcasm down a notch. If not I'm sure the sergeant can find plenty more for them to do. Nothing like learning the hard way I guess, lol. Your script is well-written, interesting, believable as always.

Thank you, MD. Matt and Jiffy need to bend a bit.

Dear Bill, I know you were in the marines, which of these characters were you when you first went in?
Was their really a character like jiffy?( Sounds like a character disorder to me.) what did the Marine Corp do with recruits like these?

Jiffy has a make or break personality. If he can be brought into the fold, he would be a powerful ally. If incorrigible, he will be mustered out within his first week. The military doesn't want sheep, but it doesn't need dissidents either.

Hi Bill, something tells me that Happy Valley isn't supposed to be very happy... lol Something else tells me that these two are going to make that whole crew crazy! :)

They are the challenge that proves the effectiveness of a boot camp scenario. The best swords take a lot of hammering to get them into shape.

I am glad I am not in the Army. I would feel hard put to deal with this kind of recruits and try to get them into a reasonable state of mind to protect our country!

Your military is made up of these kind of men and women, Rebecca. Many come in ready to be molded, but many also arrive with all the combat spirit present, yet needing redirection.

I figured this had to be true, but it takes a special drill master to do this kind of work.
Your writing is comical and entertaining. I enjoy reading it.
