OK, that's it! You have won for me. This is 1) a beautiful ode, and 2) a very good poem. It has an interesting format, the rhymes in the inner short lines, the great photo, and the lovely color. You succeeded with few words to create a powerful wish for your city.
Very well done.

Thank you for this wonderful review, Marjon. I fell in love with this city when it struggled to overcome 9-11. Then my son moved there, and I watched it overcome obstacles that other cities can't imagine. I do love it, and my heart bleeds for New Yorkers. They are tough.

I enjoyed your contest entry, Mystery Author. You described NYC well from what I know and have read. Your lines flow smoothly. I'm not sure how rhyme fits into the style of ode, so I will leave that for the judges to decide. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

Dear Mystery Writer,
What a sad post! The New York I know is resilient and strong and - if they are weeping - they won't weep for long. They have a tendency there to pull up their bootstraps and get busy living life.
Thanks and good luck!

Thank you, Robyn. I need to put more of that notion into the poem.

I think it would be helpful - in this case, you really seem to be only showing more of the negative.

I think is very well done for an Ode Poem. It brings the city to life and makes it its own being. Something that was at one time larger than life and what it can be again.

Wow, what a beautiful poem straight from the heart and to the heart :"
The city that never sleeps
Is resting . . .
testing
the grit of its endurance.'
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.
