You have made excellent use of all twenty syllables in this deeply emotional and appealing piece. It's great that you left it open to the reader's interpretation. That could be a sad cry or a happy one! :-)
If I had a 6, you'd get it!

How true this poem is. Memories are very powerful. When I was sixteen, I made Mother a batch of Parker House Rolls. Twenty years later she said she could still smell them.

This is excellent. Best of luck in the contest with this fine entry. I can identify with your piece as I believe most others will, too. Illustrated nicely. Great job. Marilyn

You described just how the memory works - sparked by sound, smell or story. And then some memories can incite our emotions, too. Well said in these brief lines. Best wishes in the contest!

Yes this near and dear to my heart it brings me back to a time of long ago. The sights smells bring back memories of a happier time.

I truly love this contest entry, it is simple yet it displays all the emotion needed for the content. Very nicely done and the wording is what I can relate to. The last song my sons and I danced to before they were killed, brings me to my knees

The Speaker could be any of us who often seek story ideas from stored memories. Yes, sometimes the smallest thing will evoke tears. You compress this truth nicely in only 20 syllables. Rod

Your visualization is wonderful, I can feel the beauty in this poem since I have lost many loved ones and i too would like to cry sometime. It is easy to get lost in a song which was shared by someone that you love and is gone.
